How do you open a GM8 file in GM7

You don't. Game Maker 8 is still in beta stages, and Game Maker games aren't backwards-compatible anyway. Files made with GM8 Beta aren't even guaranteed to work with later versions of GM8. So don't do anything important in GM8 - its a fun toy tho.
