What the difference between melee stage and normal stage in brawl

Normal stages for Brawl are made for Brawl; Basically, the size of the stages are more proportional to the characters' sizes. Also, the normal stages usually have many more choices for music. Melee stages are a little too small for Brawl characters. The stages usually only have either one or two songs for the stages.
