Why do people talk about elder scrolls 4-oblivion but say oblivion 4

The full name is The Elder scrolls IV: Oblivion. People who are unfamiliar with the series might know that Oblivion is the fourth game in a series, but not know that the series is called 'The Elder Scrolls', and not Oblivion. Hence, 'Oblivion 4'.
