Has Big Boss from Metal Gear Solid died before then resurrected

He never died. He was held captive and his cellls were kept alive by the main AI Patriot core JD. He was resurrected when Sunny's worm infiltrated GW and destroyed the entire AI network. Big Boss dies due to the new strain of FOXDIE that was injected into Solid Snake by Drebin.
