How do you soul trap a creature in oblivion

acquire a soul trap spell and cast it on the creature
kill the creature within the time limit
and you should have captured the soul

there must be a soul gem large enough for the soul in you inventory

to soul trap npc's you must have black soul gems
dremora are included as npc's
