Fallout 4: Best way to obtain Benevolent Leader Achievement/Trophy

Fallout 4 players are facing a problem with the retrieving 100% Happiness and The Benevolent Leader achievement. They look out for different videos and tips to complete the mission and end up spending a bunch of money, perks etc. This Fallout 4 Guide will help you earn The Benevolent Leader achievement faster with less investment.

Benevolent Leader Achievement

How to Earn The Benevolent Leader Achievement

Requirement

  • A settlement
  • 6 settlers
  • Level 2 Local Leader perk
  • Level 1 Medic perk
  • 9,000 caps
  • Approximately 600 each of wood and steel
  • Various other crafting materials
  • A few hours of your time

Settlement

Here Settlement doesn't mean you need to gather population or something with the square footage of your land. You need a location where you can spend your time to plan the process. We recommend that you do not do this achievement in Sanctuary or The Castle. As you have noticed a lot of players get stuck there so it's better to avoid that completely.

Once you have selected the location, start building a recruitment radio beacon at another location so that you will have settlers when you are ready. Note: you don't need ant settlers at your location unless it is ready to move therefore avoid planting radio beacon at this location. This will help you keep a steady happiness to 50 before people start moving. You must have the following basic ready before the movement.

  • A housing unit for 6 future settlers
  • 7 bed(1 for each settler and 1 for yourself)
  • Enough crops to provide 6 food (mutfruit is the best option)
  • 2 water pumps to provide 6 water
  • A generator to provide electricity
  • 5 level - 3 clinics

As many defense turrets as you want, but at least enough defense to match your food and water combined(12). More is always better, so go crazy and jack it up over 100 to be "safe". Now that you are ready you can move your settlers here and simultaneously keep building and moving.

The Expansion

The Size of the settlement is what we are about to discuss. In Fallout 4, "large settlement" is one in which the "size" just like it shows in the image above. The bar may vary at different rates at different settlements. The reason being we recommend not trying at Sanctuary is that it has a very high build capacity. On the other hand, the Red Rocket have a smaller level and seems to have a bar filled pretty quickly.

You also have a choice to build a separate building to put your crafting stations in. Similarly, a separate floor in your housing building and put a bar in it, a bunch of chairs, a jukebox, TVs, etc. Once the bar turns Yellow that means it is officially large settlement.

Move In

Now that your are ready for people to move in, head to another location and enter workshop mode. Select the settler and then click on 'Move' to send them to your new paradise. Do the same for rest 5(Total 6). Now go and rest or just keep building until they show up. Once they check in, assign one person to the crops and the other five to the five clinics. You can ignore your people and get back to decorating just to pass the time.

Pursuit of Happiness

All the Settlers are employed and you will notice an 'Up Arrow' over their heads(next to happiness level) in workshop mode. If you see the Up arrow then your are doing it right, if you don't then you must think what is going wrong. Head to your bed and sleep or take a seat somewhere and wait until the next game day.

As you wake up the next day, go ahead and have a stroll around your settlement(workshop mode) just to monitor your happiness level, and just kill some time. Pass your time by decorating, rearranging, build another floor on your house, place more turrets, or just walk away from your game for a few minutes. Spend a few real time in the settlement until you see the happiness goes up.

Note: You cannot just sleep for 24 hours over and over to speed up the process

Go ahead and back to bed for another day, this will now increase your happiness level but definitely you must try once per day. Repeat the process and as we know it takes 10 to 15 minutes of real time for the happiness level to rise so you will be done to 100 within 3 hours.

We know it's a bit tiring, but make sure you don't leave the settlement as this will drop your settlers happiness. Just Keep monitoring the happiness level to make sure that Up Arrow stays there. If you try this in Commonwealth you will see happiness level in the 80s, maybe even 90s, but 100 if you aren't there to oversee the process. Now that you have finally achieved the Benevolent Leader Achievement/Trophy without spending enough perks and money. You can finally get back to enjoying the game.
