Next: The guide to 5 more Watch Dogs weapon types

Pistols

M8-M
Available in the later stages of Watch Dogs, the M8-M is the pistol that achieves the highest kills for your efforts. The M8-M does suffer from recoil and only has a magazine size 6, so while it’s the most effective, you need to be careful when using the M8-M to avoid wasting time. The M8-M doesn’t have to be used in close range however; it manages to knock off around 50 HP per single shot when fired from 40 – 60 meters away, any closer and the damage increases.

R-33
This Watch Dogs pistol is certainly one to look out for as you progress through Ubisoft’s game. The R-33’s rate of fire, which is the best of its weapon type, will cause trouble for enemies at 800. Alongside the R-33’s 27 strong magazine, this weapon is designed for going all out. But watch the pistol doesn’t knock Aiden out with its great recoil when constantly firing; shoot single bursts to reduce the effect.

Assault Rifles

U100
If a speedy full-auto weapon is what you’re looking for in Watch Dogs, look no further than the U100. The muzzle velocity of this assault rifle stands at 970 meters per second, leaving no time for your foes to clear its firing zone. The rate of fire is also something to note at 600, so although the U100 doesn’t inflict the maximum damage at close range per shot, you’ll fire bullets so fast that enemies will fall before you realize they’ve been hit.

417
For an assault rifle that is easy to come across and available early in Watch Dogs, head to the gunshop and purchase the 417 gun. As the first assault rifle you’ll find with noticeably less recoil than the initial OCP-11, the 417 is a burst fire gun that will have you shooting down many enemies with its 20 magazine. The recoil on this weapon is still improvable, but for until you can get your hands on something like the U100 it is certainly a useful gun to have waiting in the wings for those special chances.

Shotguns

ACS-12
The primary use of a shotgun is to inflict a lot of damage in a low number of shots. The ACS-12 fulfills this quota exactly. You’ll be able to achieve around 175 HP damage per shot with the ACS-12. However you should bear in mind that this needs to be within a 10-meter range. Despite that, the recoil you’ll endure is minimal in comparison to the other shotguns and the size 12 magazine will keep you going for that extra bit of time, maybe it’ll be enough to make you safe again.

RSG-12
Shotguns are often slow, but this Watch Dogs weapon has a rate of fire of 460. That figure is at the top of the range in the shotgun types. Not just that, the RSG-12 has a minimal bullet spread of 3 meaning that your shots will hit enemies very close to one another and make the damage worse. As a semi-auto weapon, the Watch Dogs shotgun will see you do more, but in return you get a lot from the ammo of 120.

Submachine Guns

MP5
This Watch Dogs submachine gun is held in the right primary weapons slot and earns its place in your weapons selection. In comparison to the other weapons within this category, the MP5 holds its damage per shot best across distance. The maximum ammo value of 360 will enable you to shoot for longer, once you’ve worked through the game enough to get it. After you unlock the MP5, it’ll then cost you $15,000 to buy within the game. Viewed by some as an investment device, the MP5 submachine gun is bound to be a fierce weapon in your hands.

R-2000
At a price $10,000 less than the MP5, you can expect slightly less from this Watch Dogs weapon, but that isn’t to say you should ignore it. The R-2000 has the same maximum ammo value as the MP5, yet it also has a smaller recoil when shooting singular shots or continually. This weapon is held in the support weapons slot and is best used when looking to surprise enemies. The MP5 and R-2000 could be handled alongside one another, but to afford them both you may need to consult the How To Make Money tips here.
