The first Assassin's Creed game for the newest consoles is finally available, and it hasn't disappointed. The universe in Assassin's Creed Unity is bigger then ever, and there are all new characters, storylines, and areas to explore. Whether this is your first foray into the franchise or you are a seasoned pro, we've compiled a list of some of the best cheats, tips, and tricks for this awesome game. Use them to get the most out of your playthrough.

Assassin\'s Creed Unity

Avoid the Streets

Walking around on the streets is a bad idea. There are always tons of enemies ready to attack Arno at any given moment. It's best to stay out of sight – use the rooftops and the shadows to avoid other people as much as possible.

Chests

There are lots of different chests found throughout the game. You might need certain things to unlock them, such as a Uplay account or the companion app. Either way, you should try to open any chest you see. There's plenty of loot to be had!

Cover

Finally, you can use cover! Cover will protect you from attacks and can help you remain hidden. Use cover to your advantage whenever possible – it will give you the element of surprise.

Crowd Events

There are lots of crowd events in ACU, and many of them involve helping regular citizens of the city. Complete these events whenever possible – they can unlock some seriously useful rewards and perks.

Escaping

Sometimes, you just can't win. There's no shame in running away! Run away to the rooftops if you need to, and find a good hiding place. It's always good to carry a few smoke bombs as well, just in case.

Free Run

This is always a challenge for Assassin's Creed newcomers. The free running mechanic will often take care of itself – you don't need to manually jump and climb all the time. Play around with free running in the early parts of the game to familiarize yourself with the mechanic.

Hiding

This game is all about stealth – you want to be hidden as much as possible. This means you should try to sneak around whenever possible. To do this, you can blend in with other people in the city.  Be aware though – walking close to guards, even when blending in, can get you caught. If you need a breather while sneaking towards your target, look for hiding spots like hay carts, confessional boxes, and rooftops.

Opening the Map

In order to discover the different areas of the map, you'll need to find the various sync points around the world. Syncing at different areas will also open up fast travel points, which allows you to move around with lightning speed.

Parry

Like in other entries, face-to-face combat isn't always the protagonist's forte. Knowing how to parry can save you from many sticky situations. Practice this skill and be prepared to use it whenever you find yourself fighting in close quarters.

Replaying

If you want to get 100% in the game, you'll need to replay several of the missions in order to get all the rewards and achievements. Replaying missions is also really useful if you find yourself stuck due to difficulty. Replay some missions, upgrade your weapons, and try again.

Tutorials

Even if you've played all the other Assassin's Creed games, be sure to check out the game's instructions and tutorials as they pop up. You may find that there are new mechanics you aren't familiar with, or the controls may be a bit different on the new console. Don't skip them – check them out and be prepared!

Weapons

There are a variety of weapons in ACU, and you'll want to have a variety for every situation. It's important to have good weapons for both close range fighting and ranged attacks. Remember that some weapons will make a lot of noise, while others are totally silent. Try upgrading weapons for even more enhancements.
