3 Ways to Prevent Your Xbox Live Account from Being Hacked

If you’ve been paying attention to news headlines for Xbox Live and Xbox 360 gamers over the past few weeks, you’ve more than likely at least heard about the hacking of accounts that has been taking place.  It’s definitely no fun to have your account hacked, and we’re here to help you prevent it from happening.

While preventing it shouldn’t be limited to just these tips that we’re including below, these are five common mistakes that we find gamers making.  Continue reading below for our list:

Remove Your Credit Card Information – One of the easiest ways to keep your Xbox Live subscription going is to have a credit card information associated with your account.  In the same manner, if your Xbox Live account manages to be hacked, that individual would have access to your account and would be able to purchase Microsoft points and run up a rather hefty bill.  While it may be more convenient, we definitely recommending removing your card information if at all possible.

Purchase Using Microsft Points & Subscription Cards – Without your credit or debit card information on your account, there’s really only one way to purchase items on Xbox Live.  With using Microsoft Point cards or Xbox Live subscription cards, you can keep your account “safe”.  If your account gets hacked and they use your Microsoft points, those points are still associated with your account and they can’t “overspend” your account.

Never Give Out Your Account Information – While it might seem like a no-brainer to most people, you’d be surprised at how many people will give out their account information.  The games we see this happen the most often would have to be Call of Duty, in regards to prestige or account hacks, or the FIFA series as of late.

No matter what an individual offers you on Xbox Live, it’s honestly not worth giving out your account information.  People are always looking to obtain account information, sell accounts, and a variety of other “schemes”, and you don’t want to fall victim to one of these attacks.
