The new Sonic the Hedgehog game on Wii U, Sonic: Lost World, features several bonus levels and Chaos Emeralds to unlock. In order to gain access to these features, you’ll need to collect the special Red Rings that are found in each level. There are 140 total, 5 found in each different zone. Use our guide to find them all and unlock all the bonus features in Sonic: Lost World!
Run forward at the start of the level. Cross a bridge and look for a tree right after. Hit the tree full speed and get launched to the ring.
In the second area, use one of the extended ramps to reach the raised area. Hit the next two checkpoints and grab the bell. Follow it along the walkways, touching it when it stops, until it stops on top of a tree and becomes the red ring.
At the windmill building, climb to the top using the platform and get the third red ring.
Get the boost on the top of the giant windmill to launch up. Look for the cloud platforms to the right and bounce from the second one to get the ring.
At the waterfalls area, go down the shadowy path. Look for the ring on the right.
Go to the center of the first windmill to get this one.
Next to the above windmill, there are platforms. Use them to ride the windmill to the very top and get the next ring.
At the cave entrance, grab the power up and continue until you reach the loop. Use the power up and enter the portal at the center of the loop. To get the ring here, stand in the center of the area and do a charged jump.
Go through the cave and find this ring above you between two walls hanging over a little flock of sheep.
After exiting the cave, this ring is on a big pyramid of rings by the zone exit.
After going through the tunnel with boulders, get launched into the next tunnel. Turn back and drop off the ledge at the entrance of the tunnel. Double jump to the hidden area with smashable crystal. Inside one is the ring.
After leaving the second tunnel, pass the group of bats and get the red ring on the right as you pass the spiky cylinder.
Pass a checkpoint and go through five boosts. The ring is right after the boosts, in a crystal block.
To get this tricky ring, you need to first get a laser power up. After hitting the checkpoint before the above ring, don’t go through the boosts. Instead, turn right where the enemies are. Look for a corridor that has no floor. Jump over there, use the power up, and launch up to the platform. Keep going down the hall to find the ring in crystal.
In the last tunnel, grab the bell and follow it until it shows you the last ring.
Jump over some thorny plants. At the end of this platform, don’t use the jump pads to launch you to the next area. Instead circle around to the top of the area and find another group of jump pads. Use these ones to get to a cage. Use the next pads to jump over some sheep and get the ring.
In the part where you are side-scrolling, go down the hidden path behind the sunflowers and blocked by a red sheep. The red ring is over the exit.
In the waterfall area, use the falling platforms to reach the third one with the ring.
Find the power up in front of some stairs. Take the power up and climb the stairs to reach a loop. Use the power open and go through the portal that opens. Go to the center of this area and crush the structure to get the ring.
Just before the boss, find this ring on the first windmill in the area. Jump on the platforms on the right side to launch over to the left and grab the ring.
Look for a big tree on the right in the first area. Climb up and get launched to the ring.
At the end of the first side-scrolling area, wall-jump up the vertical structure across the row of spikes to get the ring.
Look for a raised platform between the two sand pits in the second outside area. Get to the top of the platform to grab the ring.
At the end of the second side-scrolling area, jump onto the platform opposite the door instead of leaving. Wall-run up the vertical structure and grab the bell. Survive while chasing the bell and the ring will appear.
Get to the area full of trees at the end of the level. The first tree has a bell on top. Grab the bell and follow it to spiky pits and a sandworm. Use the boost in front of the worm to be able to use a jump pad and get the ring.
At the end of the first skydiving part, get the ring before you hit the flower.
After you land from the first skydive, go through a tunnel until you get sprayed by honey. As you pass through, the ring is on the left side.
After getting the second ring, go through two tunnels and go into an area with numbered rings. Instead of going ahead, hug the left side of the path and jump a gap. Attack the acorn to get launched to the next ring.
After you land from the second skydive, go through the tunnels and get to the large cylinder shaped path. Take the tunnel on the right side and collect the three extra lives. Keep going until you reach the ring.
On the last cylinder shaped path before the boss, go to the underside and find a tunnel with four extra lives in it. On the other side, you’ll find the ring.
When you reach the blue platforms, get the ring underneath in a little nook, next to a cookie.
From the blue area, find the cannon. Before you use the cannon, looked for a platform on the left with another cannon. Use this cannon to launch yourself to a path with the ring at the end.
When you find the cannons firing pastries, get the ring on the platform behind them. You don’t need to use the jump pad.
When you are jumping across many cookie platforms, look for the ring on the second to last one, on the side.
In the last area with three cannons, use the jump chain to get higher. Get the last ring right above the exit.
The ring is over a sand pit after you collect the numbered rings while getting chased by the tornado.
After the drilling part, go above ground and find the ring at the top of the screen, before you leave.
When the tornado chases you again, get the red ring over a couple of raised platforms.
As you are getting chased for the second time, attack some ladybugs and get launched through a loop. After you get out of the loop, jump to the raised platform and go across some cages to find the next ring.
This ring is over a sand pit after you use some jump pads in the second tornado chase. You have to get it using a double jump from a platform above.
In the starting area, take the raised path on the left wall. Climb up the first tree and get launched to the ring.
Behind the tree where got the above ring, grab the bell on top of the geyser. Chase it until it reveals the next ring.
In the second area, take another left raised path. At the end of the path, use the boost and grab the ring through the trees.
Get past the area surrounded by cannons and ride a geyser on the raised path on the right. Get the ring in front of a cliff.
Get the last ring hidden in a container on the left side, next to extra lives, while you are bouncing through the clouds.
Use the first geyser you see to get to an open area with oranges. Use the path on the left with floor spikes to find the first ring.
In the same area, before you use the juicer, get the ring in the rightmost tree.
When you need to put a melon into the juice, find the ring on one of the totem poles around the blade.
After the melon geyser, find a small island with a turret on it and enemies. Jump to it, defeat the bad guys, and ring will appear.
Before you use the apple geyser, go across the left platforms to climb a tree surrounded by oranges. The ring is on top.
In the first side-scrolling area, jump up at the fork. Past the gate and mining cart, get the first ring.
After you complete the first side-scrolling area, go through the corkscrew and find the ring on the red rail behind the second enemy.
In the second side-scrolling area, jump up to the top level where there are 3 mine carts. Continue along until you find the loop. Then take a jump and get the ring.
When you get to the second group of serpent enemies, go right and jump onto the green rail to get launched to the ring.
At the fan blade, get the ring on the left railing.
In the first non-circular area, find a bell. Chase it to unlock the first ring.
In the long side-scrolling section, ride up the middle platform at the water fountains to get a ring.
At the second set of platforms by water fountains, use the homing attack to kill the flier and reach the platform above it to get the ring.
This one is at the end of the level, between two monkeys.
Near the end of the level, find this one in the indoor area floating above the ground.
Go to the underside of the area at the beginning of the level and progress until you find a cage with spikes. Bounce from the cage to reach the ring above.
When in the clouds, find a bell to your left. Chase it to get a ring.
In the area with three pistons in a row, get the ring on top of the third one.
Get to an area with pink fans. Go to the shadowy side and get the ring on the wall to the right. You can use a laser power up from the jump pad to get across the gap.
Use the boost above the previous ring. After you use the wall-run to clear a gap, you’ll find the ring.
After you get shot through the billiard areas, knock all the balls into the holes to unlock the ring.
After the pool table, get the ring hanging over a square hole.
Get the third ring on the right side in the area where you first see crabs.
When you come to a fork, take the right side where the monster is. Knock it over the edge and get the ring over some platforms.
At the second billiard area, knock all the balls into holes once again to make the ring appear. Avoid the checkpoint until you finish.
Before the exit in the first room, get the ring on a stack of green chips.
After the first pinball area, go straight and get the ring above a bumper, behind some robot enemies.
Before exiting the second area, find enemy robots and two stacks of green chips. Climb the left stack and get launched to a pinball area. Get the ring at the top of the machine.
Near the zone’s end, find a bell in the room with wires. Chase it to get a ring.
After the electrified area where you got the above ring, go through the hallway and find the ring high up on the right wall. Use wall-running between the two walls to get it.
Jump over the boost at the start of the level and onto the platform behind it. Get the ring on the next platform.
This easy one is at the end of a ring line in the 3D area.
This one is also easy to get. At the end of the 2D area, find it in the middle of the room with pink octopi.
In the area with the nuts, go left and find the ring in a little nook in the center structure.
When you get back outside, land on a sheet of ice. Pound through the ice to get underneath and find the ring on a piston.
At the beginning, go over the water using the rail. Stay right and jump to the raised path. Instead of using the cannon nearby, hit the boosts and grab the ring.
Hit the checkpoint after the spiders and use the flowers to reach a fork. Go left over the red flowers and launch to the red ring.
After the same checkpoint above, instead of using the flowers to jump, go to the underside of the area where there are spiky balls. Get the ring on the right side.
After you defeat the second group of spiders, use the right side rails to reach a bell. Chase it and get a ring.
In the last grinding area before the zone end, get the ring on the right.
Look for raised platforms at the beginning, above a bomb-throwing robot. At the end is the ring.
When a falling enemy breaks through the floor in the beginning area, go underneath and find the ring.
This easy to find ring is on a platform in the area with spiral bushes.
After you use the musical note power up, find a high platform. You can reach it by attacking the bouncing enemy beneath it. Get the ring on the platform.
This one is in a nook on the electrified platform after the above ring.
After you hit the first boost of the zone, jump the gap and avoid the traps to find the ring on a platform with a jump pad.
After you get launched onto some platforms after dodging rocks, find the bell on the bottom level. Chase it to get the ring.
From the area with the bell above, follow the top level and get propelled into an area with a purple crystal floor. Stomp this area and fall through to get a ring encased in crystal.
Find another purple floor area after the long tunnel with sticky tiles. Stomp through it and get the ring hanging over a cage.
After the last checkpoint, wall-run to follow the line of rings that circles the wall. Find the hidden jump pad and launch to an area with a purple floor. Smash through and use wall-jumps to get the ring.
When you find the first statue head, jump on top and ride it up to the first ring.
Shortly after you get the first ring, you’ll pass one. Double back across the narrow platforms when you get to the lower level to find it.
In the dark room, find the statue head getting launched up. Ride it up and grab the ring in a hidden nook on the left.
In the dim area with rotating platforms, jump on the one with spiky balls on it and wall-run to the highest platform. Get the red ring at the top.
When you come to the robot chucking bombs, turn around and use the platform on the left to get the last ring.
At the grass area at the top of the windmill, go left to the edge and launch yourself from the jump pad to reach the first ring.
In the area with collapsing walkways, go to the right side to find the ring down the path.
When you get the flight power up, use it to travel through a canyon. The ring is at the start of this area, but on the underside. Use the wall-run to loop around the wall and grab it.
In the second collapsing walkway area, tough the bell and chase it to reach a ring.
After you go through the cylinder shaped path, stick to the side that’s brown and get the last ring between two spiky balls.
This one is hard to miss. Find it above a group of rings at the start of the zone.
Before you come across the fire-breathing robots, get the ring on a raised collapsing platform.
After the laser-firing robots, jump to a lower platform to find this ring.
This one is on a platform above a cage, in the area where you have to dodge lasers.
Before you fight the boss, get this ring on a lower platform that you must double-jump to reach.
When you start encountering enemies, look towards the bottom to find the red ring.
After you first dodge the rockets, get the red ring in the last diamond cluster of rings.
You can’t miss this one. After you grab the above ring, defeat the enemies that appear and get this one.
In the second area where you dodge rockets, get the red ring in the middle of a line of rings.
This one is between the two big rockets at the end of the zone.
Follow the long line of rings above the starting point to get this one.
Slide down the sand chute and get this ring between two groups of emerging centipedes.
When you are being chased by the cactus, the ring will appear on the right side.
In the next side-scrolling sequence, bounce up some platforms to find a bell. Chase it to get the ring.
After the second checkpoint in the area with the ghosts, find the ring in a hidden nook on the left side.
All these rings are dropped with falling rocks. When you see a rock falling, run to it to get the ring. Keep an eye out for them on this round world as you fight the bosses.
In the beginning side-scrolling part, find this ring on the third circular railroad.
When you go into the 3D area, stay right on the rail to use a jump pad that will launch you to the ring.
In the second side-scrolling area, jump the gaps by attacking the insect enemies. Ahead, there will be an elevated platform with the ring on it. You’ll have to jump off the rail during the incline to find it.
At the next set of circular railroads, get the red ring from the large one. It’s behind one of the carts with bombs.
As you exit the room where you got numbered rings, stay on the green rail across from #1. This leads to the last ring.
At the fork at the metal grating, take the right path guarded by spikes. The ring is at the top after you jump on a few platforms.
In the next area where you dodge spiky balls, get the ring on the right wall. The hidden path entrance is right below it.
After beating the second boss, get this ring between two vertical grates will wall-running or a power up.
After getting the above ring, proceed until you find two more vertical grates. There another ring in the middle, and this time you can use jump pads and wall-running to get it.
At the end of the last 3D area, get the ring on the second to last cannon that is shooting at you. Use the jump pad on the cannon before it to reach it.
These are all found around the world while you fight the last boss. Try to collect all the rings and then focus on the boss.
