Borderlands 2 Achievements / Trophies

While most of the achievements in Borderlands 2 are fairly straightforward, there are a few where one might be best served referencing a guide. Some of them aren't terribly clear, while others are simply difficult to obtain. On that note, don't worry too much about the secret achievements – most of them can be gained simply by playing through the main quest, and those that can't are listed in this guide.

Build Buster (20G / Silver Trophy): Chances are good that you'll eventually encounter a Constructor while playing through the game – there's one with a set spawn point at the Hyperion base in The Highlands. It'll always spawn there, so you can keep entering and leaving the area (or simply restarting your game) to keep fighting it until you get the achievement. If you're the Gunzerker, it'll be easy as pie. Either way, explosive weaponry is your friend in this situation.

Cute Loot (15G / Bronze Trophy):  "Chubby" enemies are simply a rare variant of Varkid, Spiderant, Skag, Stalker, Midgets, or Rakks. If you're playing a four-person multiplayer match, you're going to come across one eventually. Otherwise, a chubby Varkid always spawns in the starting area of Caustic Caverns.

Definitely an Italian Plumber (15G / Bronze Trophy):  First things first: If you aren't level thirty yet, you're going to want to either use a vehicle, or hold off on going for this one until you are. Donkey Mong, the ultra-rare spawn you're setting out to kill, is one tough customer. He's a Bullymog that throws explosive barrels, and he spawns in the southwestern area of the Eridium Blight. You're probably going to need to do some searching in order to track him down, and keep entering and leaving the Eridium Blight until he shows up.  You'll know when he does – things will start going "boom."

Goliath, Meet David (15G / Bronze Trophy): In order to get this achievement, you're going to have to do something a bit unusual once you arrive in Frostburn Canyon (make sure you're at least level 15 before attempting this). Once you see a Goliath (they've got fiery white masks), shoot its mask off. It's going to start attacking everything in sight, and it's your job to make sure it survives long enough to level up to the rank of "Fatal God-Liath." Once that displays, you're free to kill it.

High-Flying Hurler (10G / Bronze Trophy): First things first, you'll want to acquire a Tediore-branded weapon. The unique thing about this brand is that you'll fling a hologram of the gun at an opponent while reloading, causing a small amount of damage and stunning anything it hits. Once you've got a Tediore weapon, find some weak, low-level enemies, and fire way. Reload, and with any luck, you'll fling the hologram of the gun at one of them for a killing blow. Rakk's are particularly easy targets, to that end.

Up High, Down Low (15G / Bronze Trophy):  Once you reach Sanctuary, you'll have access to a side mission known as "Claptrap's Hidden Stash." Simply open the cupboard to complete the quest, then turn around and smack him with a melee attack. Make sure you hit his hand, though.

Tribute to a Vault Hunter (15G / Bronze Trophy): This achievement could be either easy or difficult, depending on whether or not you're running an unpatched console version of the game. Michael has a fairly low spawn chance, and can spawn at any of the following locations in Sanctuary:

  • Near the Newsstand in the main plaza
  • An alley down the street from Moxxi's front entrance.
  • Inside Moxxi's, either near the bar or across from Sir Hammerlock
  • In Marcus's weapon shop
  • Near Claptrap
  • Inside Scooter's garage
  • Inside the Crimson Raider Headquarters
  • In Zed's clinic
  • Near the door to Crazy Earl's Black Market

Once you've tracked him down, simply talk to him in order to get a weapon.

Thresher Thrashed (30G / Silver Trophy): After you've beaten the game, go and speak to Patricia Tannis in the Crimson Raiders HQ in Sanctuary. She'll give you the side quest "You. Will. Die. (Seriously)"

If you go into this unprepared, it's very aptly named. Your mission is to kill an enemy known as Terramorphous, currently one of the most difficult bosses in Borderlands 2. Before you even think about trying to take this beast on, make sure you've reached level 50, have a high Badass Rank, and have purchased every upgrade you possibly can. You'll need them.  At the very least, you'll also want your gear to be entirely purple or higher in terms of quality.

Furthermore, while it's certainly possible to pull this one off in single player (my roommate managed it as the Siren), it's much simpler to do it in multiplayer.

Anyway, once you've completed the necessary preparations, travel to Thousand Cuts. Once there, you'll have access to an area known as Terramorphous Peak. It costs 4 Eridium to enter, so you don't want to mess this one up.

Terramorphous is a giant thresher which hits like a tank and has a metric ton of hitpoints, in addition. Slag weapons are a must for this fight, and if you go down, aim for one of the tentacles while in Last Stand mode; you should be able to take it down in order to get your second wind. Beyond that, there's only one thing left to say: mobility, mobility, mobility. If you're not constantly in motion while you're fighting this thing, you're probably doing it wrong. Do your best to stay behind the creature, and he won't be able to attack you, but make sure you keep your distance, as well.

Sugar Daddy (10G / Bronze Trophy): While this achievement is fairly straightforward (you simply need to give Moxxi ten tips of 1000 credits each), tipping her 5,000 more than is required for the achievement will net you an Easter Egg. Simply wait until the end of the game, when you're likely to have more money than god, and you shouldn't have any problem scraping together 15,000 in cash.

Well, That was Easy (10G / Bronze Trophy): This achievement is aptly named. Once you reach Thousand Cuts, look for a yellow exclamation point in the northern area of the map. You'll find a non-hostile psycho known as Face McShooty(you're likely to hear him before you see him).  Just…do what he says, and you'll have the achievement.

What does it Mean? (15G / Bronze Trophy):  Go to the Hyperion camp in the Highlands (the entrance is north of the Outwash map exit). You'll eventually come to a bridge with a constructor enemy (the one we referred to in "Build Buster"). Kill it, and cross the bridge. You'll be on top of a mountain, with a large metal door towards the back of the area. Jump off to the right of the door, and you'll fall down next to a tent. Go in front of the tent, and listen to the audio tape. Look at the double rainbow, and you've got your achievement.
