Flying planes is a new addition to the Grand Theft Auto world. In Grand Theft Auto V, there are a few different aerial challenges you can complete using airborne vehicles. Knife Flights are one of the challenges, and they require you to pull off a certain move using an airplane. Completing all 15 of these knife flight stunts is required for getting the Close Shave 20 point achievement or bronze trophy. This challenge also contributes to the game’s 100% completion. You’ll have to get at least 8 out of the 15 to achieve that elusive 100%.
To learn how to perform a knife flight, go to the Flight School and complete the challenges here. A knife is when you roll the plane to the side, keeping the wings in a vertical position. To be able to stay in this position long enough to get through buildings, apply pressure to the opposite rudder. If you roll left, hit the right rudder, and vice versa.
The first stunt is in the city, in Pacific Bluffs area. Look for two large beach hotel skyscrapers just south of the grassy areas. Look for the angular swimming pool in the plaza between the two, and you’ll know you’re at the right place. To get this knife flight, go over the pool and carefully fly in between the two buildings.
This flight is in Little Seoul, and just south of Del Perro Freeway. Look for the LomBank buildings. There is a plaza in between them with some trees and grass. You need to fly through the buildings here. Watch out if you fly through from the north, as there is another building right in front of you after you exit the gap.
The third stunt is in Del Perro. You’ll need to fly through two corporate buildings here. Look for a shorter building that looks like a staircase on the corner of a street. You need to fly through the gap between this building, the Bluff Tower Office Complex, and a dark skyscraper to the side, the Simpson, Cochrane, & Bailey LLP building. If you are having trouble distinguishing the dark building – it’s the shorter one in this area.
This one is right near #3. Look for the LomBank building and the Crastenburg Hotel. One of these buildings is the tall skyscraper in the area. Fly between the gap to complete this stunt.
For the next knife flight, head northeast to Rockford Hills. Find the USLA Annex Parking Garage. Next to the garage, there is an apartment building. It will have several small tan sections on the roof. You have to fly between these two buildings, over the street.
Fly west for this next stunt in Rockford Hills. Look for two big skyscrapers. One of them is the Richards Majestic, with a crown logo on the building. Fly in between these two buildings.
Go north from the above flight to West Vinewood. Find the Schlongberg Sachs building, the name is on the outside. Then, look for a tower to the south with many windows and a for lease sign. It’s about the same height as the Schlongberg Sachs building. Fly in between these two carefully.
You don’t have to go anywhere for this one. You’ll use the same Schlongberg Sachs building West Vinewood, but this time, fly between the gap created with the tall north tower.
Head east to Vinewood and head to the Whirligig Theater. You need to fly between this and Vinewood Videos. You can fly over the T-Shirt store and Chinese theater for the best approach.
Go a little southeast to get into Hawick. Here, find the tall Vinewood Gardens Hotel. You’ll need to fly between this and the Galileo House right next to it – this one’s a very tight squeeze! Keep calm and stay high to get through without any trouble.
Next, head to Pillbox Hill to the southwest. Find the twin towers, two huge beige skyscrapers. Look for the “IAA” logo on them. Fly between the two to complete this step.
From the above flight, go west past the Maze Bank and Union Depository. Keep an eye out for two buildings with multi-story parking garages that you’ll need to fly through. One is dark colored, and the other one has striped rows of windows.
Another one is Pillbox Hill. Go a little west and look for a multi-story parking garage shorter than the surrounding buildings. It will have a stunt jump on top of the roof. You’ll have to fly through the two skyscrapers attached to this parking garage and over the roof to complete this knife.
Go south from the above knife to find this one. Look for the Go Postal building. There will be a multi-story parking garage across the street. Fly through these buildings and over the street.
The final knife flight is right near the above stunt. Look for the very tall skyscraper. You’ll need to fly between this and the shorter skyscraper across the many lanes of traffic. Going between this Slaughter building and Schlongberg Sachs building will compete all the knife flights.
