EA Sports UFC 2 Wiki – Everything you need to know about the game

EA Sports UFC 2 is a sports fighting game that is the second in what is now a yearly release of the video game based on the Ultimate Fighting Championship. The game follows up on the original EA Sports UFC game and this time Ronda Roussey is going to be sharing the cover with Connor McGregor thanks to his victory at UFC 194. This is the first time the game has actually awarded the cover to the winner of a contest like this and the developers have said this step is another way they want to make the game that much more realistic. The game is coming to the Xbox One and the PS4 in the spring of 2016, though the game does not yet have an official release date. On the UFC’s official website there was a date listed as March 21st 2016 but EA has not yet confirmed this date.

Development

The game was officially unveiled in December of 2015 and at the time it was announced the cover had not been completed. Ronda Rousey was named as one of the cover athletes and the other athlete was the winner of the contest between Conor McGregor and Jose Aldo in UFC 194. McGregor eventually won that contest and there has since been a cover unveiled that shows both Rousey and McGregor.

The game was officially unveiled thanks to a trailer that showed a number of fighters in the game and it’s featuring Rousey. In mid-December, the development team announced that the game is slated to run at 1080p, and renders at 30fps with motion blur. In order to explain the decision to have the game run at these levels, the game director Brian Hayes gave a recent interview where he said, “We’ve found that going to 60fps doesn’t have a hugely beneficial impact, and people in testing have told us that the game actually looks better at 30fps with motion blur.”

The company has said that there are going to be more than 250 fighters in the game, which is quite a bit more than what was in the original game, even with later updates and DLC. While the entire roster of the game has not been identified yet, there have been a few fighters that were officially announced as being in the game. The company announced at the end of December that CM Punk would be included in the game, despite the fact that he’s not even made his official appearance in the real UFC.

The development team has announced that there is a new facial modeling rig and the introduction of hair physics. It also has improved strike deformation work that is supposed to make every impact more realistic is said to have quite a few signature animations tied to the fighters.

Story

UFC 2

Because this is a sports fighting game that is based on the official UFC, the game’s storyline is created by how the player plays the game and carries out fights. There aren’t really a ton of stories beyond the fights themselves, though there is a Career mode for someone who wants to see how well they can do against the UFC.  The developers have said that the Career mode will allow players to work throughout their journey when it comes to encountering career-defining moments that will deliver a heightened atmosphere when the players actually go inside the ring.

The Career mode will allow players to drive their career entirely, meaning that if a player chooses to take over a female fighter, they can try and make them the first female fighter that has been inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame. There are also some ways in which the fighters can actually forge a kind of rivalry over the course the mode.

Gameplay

EA Sports UFC 2

The developers have said the EA Sports UFC 2 will have revolutionary new physics-driven hit reaction and knockout system. This new system is geared to deliver more realistic and gruesome as even more rewarding, and more authentic KOs than ever before. The game is said to be offering a situation where every knockout in the game is always unique.  The game is also said to offer a brand new kind of grappling that is supposed to be more realistic than any MMA game that has hit the market before EA Sports UFC 2. Part of the next level grappling includes the ability to use specific moves like the flying armbar from the clinch, or a quick transition from a knee bar to a heel hook. The game has also brought standing submissions and submission chaining.

The game also has new ways to dodge an attack from another fighter. The developers have brought advanced head movements that allow dodges, teamed with better blocks allows people to fight these UFC fights in a way that isn’t just two fighters pummeling each other.

There are a number of different modes offered in the game. The career mode allows players to steer their career however they want. The game has a new addition that is training camp. Players will need to find the happy medium between getting hurt and getting ready to fight. There is also an Ultimate Team Mode that is similar to what EA has done with franchises such as Madden. This mode allows players to build their own personal roster with virtual cards of some of the best fighters ever.

KO Mode boils the game down to a game where people just start throwing punches, instead of grappling. There are also Custom Event Creators that allow you to plan your own UFC championship fight, Online Championships, Live Events and Create a Fighter that allows players to put themselves into the UFC and fight through the career mode or just the KO mode.
