Star Trek: D-A-C review

Not only was the new Star Trek movie everything a blockbuster should be – exciting, funny, loaded with fights, explosions and plot holes – it picked up where TNG left off and created a whole new story out of classic Trek while staying respectful to classic continuity.

DAC is the goateed mirror opposite of all that. Like the horrible Watchmen game from a few months back DAC is a brutal and simplistic use of the license, whacking Federation and Romulan starships into a top-down arcade shooter with modes based around Deathmatch, Assault, and Conquest. Do you see? The initials? Yes.

Even without the criminal waste of the license DAC would be yet another weak attempt at a genre already weakly attempted by others on Live Arcade. Wing Commander and Battlestar Galactica squandered their names on pap, too, so Star Trek is in semi-decent company, but is lacking in maps, variety, and green chicks for Kirk to nob.
