In lieu of a proper sequel to their classic PSP puzzler, Sony have released this spin-off that you can buy from the PlayStation Network for less than the price of a sandwich. Rather than tilt the world to control your LocoRoco pals, as the PSP game, in Cocoreccho you guide a butterfly around the screen with the right analogue stick and lead them through the level. At certain points you can tilt or shake the controller to get past obstacles, and “call” the LocoRocos and get them to follow you.
It’s delightfully basic, and the saccharine music and visuals are as sweet as ever. Naturally, it’s not as good as the PSP version. But it’s not really a full game, so comparing the two is unfair. Coccorecho is in full HD too, and seeing the pin-sharp LocoRocos singing away in 1080p is worth the asking price alone. It’s fun while it lasts, but is more of a distraction - or even an interactive screensaver - than a proper game.
