How to Add Website Shortcuts to Your Windows 10 Start Menu

Whether you love it or hate it, it’s undeniable that the Windows 10 Start Menu is versatile. It can be expanded to suit your individual needs, and of course, it houses the apps and programs that you want to get access to the most.

It does more, though, as you can store your favorite websites right on the Start Menu. And while most people know you can store websites from Internet Explorer or Edge, you can also do it from Chrome and Firefox. The process takes a couple of extra steps, but it’s not too bad.

First thing’s first, you’ll need to open the website you want to store. Presumably, you want to store MakeUseOf.com, because, well, we’re awesome. Next to the address bar you’ll see a little symbol, and depending on the site, it will be a little lock, piece of paper, or a globe. Click this and drag it to your desktop to create a shortcut.

Now, right-click the shortcut you just made and select Copy from the context menu.

Launch a Run box by typing Run into the Cortana search field, and then type shell:programs in said Run box. Right click the background of the Explorer window that opens, taking care not to right click an icon, and click Paste.

Now, the website you just added will be buried in the All Apps section. Simply scroll to it and drag it to the tile section on the right of the menu. You can delete the shortcut from your desktop once it’s done. That’s it!
