Your Most-Wanted Games of 2014 [We Ask You Results]

With a big part of 2014 still left to play out, there are dozens of video games on the horizon due to be released before the year draws to a close. Whether on computer or console, handheld or home system, PS4 or Xbox One, or PS Vita or Nintendo DS, these are the titles you gaggle of geeks are desperate to get your hands on.

I Want To Play A Game

We asked you, What Future Video Game Are You Desperate To Play? The response was rather tepid, but we still got several names thrown into the mix to help us form an idea of what video games the MakeUseOf readership wants to play in 2014.

There were a couple of snooty comments from people who have no interest in video games. They clearly look down at those of us who love nothing more than an evening spent waggling our joysticks, fiddling with our thumbsticks, or murdering our mouse and keyboard combos. This despite video games being a more popular form of entertainment now than ever before.

Thankfully there were plenty of gamers on hand to balance the situation. None of whom will react to not winning Comment Of The Week in the way the kid in the video below reacted to having his World of Warcraft subscription cancelled. We hope. It’s a classic, it’s probably fake, but it’s still hilarious.

And so we come to the games themselves, with a list of 10 that were mentioned in the comments section as being titles our readers are keen to play. These are listed in no particular order, as none, apart from the epic Titanfall, got more than one vote.

  • Titanfall
  • Mario Kart 8
  • South Park: The Stick Of Truth
  • Survarium
  • Star Citizen
  • Dishonored 2
  • World Of Warships
  • Watch Dogs
  • Oddworld: New ‘n’ Tasty
  • Kerbal Space Program

This represents a solid line-up of games, though the omission of some big-name titles — Metal Gear Solid V, The Elder Scrolls Online, Destiny, The Division, Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn — is somewhat surprising.

Comment Of The Week

We received a lot of great comments, including those from cptpicard, likefunbutnot, and Tom W. Comment Of The Week goes to Suleiman, who won with this comment:

Titanfall! Titanfall! Titanfall! Titanfall! Titanfall! Titanfall! Titanfall! Titanfall! Titanfall!
was this enough to be loud about my response ?…..no?…..ok….take this:
Titanfall! Titanfall! Titanfall! Titanfall! Titanfall! Titanfall! Titanfall! Titanfall!
I think you hear me clear now :)
I got PS4 ( love it, best console) , i don’t like Xbox One, therefore, i am building power house pc to play Titanfall……..yes you read that correct. Titanfall is not exclusive to Microsoft boyz only, it will be on pc too. If you don’t believe me, go to Twitch.com and search for Titanfall and you will see the lucky games who got the beta version of Titanfall digging the game hard. ( just to save you from wasting time, u can’t have the beta version now, it has been closed)
My final answer is Titanfall!

We chose this comment because, well, it takes time to write the name of one game out that many times. It helps that the game in question is Titanfall, which does indeed look fantastic. It also helps that this commenter is looking forward to the game so much they’re willing to build a gaming rig in order to be able to play it. It would be easier to just buy an Xbox One, but not nearly as much fun. I guess.
