Angry Birds has been slowly moving away from its puzzle game roots, with the recent launch of the RPG Angry Birds Epic. And its other diversion from puzzles, the kart racing game Angry Birds Go, has now got an update with all new levels.
Angry Birds Go is a racing game set on “Piggy Island”, putting you behind the wheel of a downhill kart as Red, Chuck, Stella, King Pig, and other favorite characters from the Angry Birds universe.
Rovio, the developer of the Angry Birds series, has traditionally issued free updates to its games that pack additional levels. The Sub Zero episode, in the same vein, is all about racing in a winter wonderland. This is the second update from Rovio to be themed around winter, after Angry Birds Season’s Arctic Eggspedition update.
The Sub Zero episode brings eight new karts where you can skid around the icy tracks, along with new daily events and rewards. The update includes new starter packs that instantly give you a premium soapbox kart for each episode, along with bonus coins and gems. The in-app purchases are quite steep in Angry Birds Go, so this is a nice addition.
The big news missing from this update is that Rovio has still not included a multiplayer mode in Angry Birds Go, which was promised as an upcoming feature when the game was first released.
The game is a free download for iOS, Android, BlackBerry 10 and Windows Phone, and you’ll need to update it from the app store of your platform to get the new Sub Zero updates.
