Android Apps on Sale, 11 April: Pathogen & The Walking Dead

Each week we scour current Google Play promotions and cherry-pick the best of the best. This week we have four awesome games, one of which is entirely free.

Because app sales are temporary affairs, by the time you read this, these may no longer be on sale. Worry not: Simply check back next week for some more Android deals!

Pathogen – Strategy Board Game ($3, now $1)

This game is the reason why it took me so long to write this post – I had to buy it as soon as I saw it was on sale… and then I had to “test” it, of course. Pathogen is a strategy game with simple mechanics that yield deep, challenging gameplay. That’s what most strategy games want to be, but Pathogen pulls it off. The core is similar to Go, but it’s way more fun and is easy to learn. If you get just one paid game this week, it should be Pathogen. It is just that good. Works best on an Android tablet, but was perfectly playable on my 5″ phone. You can play on your own, but it’s even better with a friend.

The Walking Dead: Season One (Free!)

Zombies! The Walking Dead is an acclaimed series, and now it’s finally available on Android, with the first episode being offered absolutely gratis. It’s a TellTale adventure game, with lots of gore.

Star Command ($2.99, now $1.99)

We’ve covered Star Command a couple of times in the past – back in December and again in January. It’s a space adventure game all done up in nice 8-bit graphics and an isometric view. Think “Star Trek meets Game Dev Story”. Don’t play on Easy mode, though, as it is far too easy and gets boring.

Lost Souls (Full) ($5, now $1)

Actually, a whole bunch of G5 Entertainment games are currently on sale, but I just picked Lost Souls to highlight. This is a beautifully executed “hidden object” adventure game. You play as Bella, and your goal is to find your missing child. Again, if you’re into this style of games, you should check out the G5 Developer page right now.

Tune in next week for some more great Android deals! And of course, feel free to share your finds and favorites in the comments below.
