5 Goat Simulator Mods You Need To Try

Goat Simulator is a game we’ve covered here at MakeUseOf before, and it’s absolute nonsense. I mean that as a compliment, because it’s a special kind of nonsense that we just don’t see enough in the game world, with most games taking themselves way too seriously. Serious is not even a word that’s in Goat Simulators vocabulary, and for that, I absolutely love it.

The community around Goat Simulator is just as crazy as the developers themselves, and with the game being open to mods, even more nonsense has popped up. The mods in Goat Simulator do everything from changing the “goat” to things you might never expect, and some of them are downright fantastic. If you’ve been getting a little tired of the base Goat Simulator game, these are the mods you are going to need to play.

Goat Simulator is a game that’s hard to put into words, though I will try in the text that follows. I am of the opinion that video is the way to go. As such, check out this video we made of these mods. It’s funny, dumb, and it just might bring you to tears with all of its Goat magic.

The Hill – Alpha

This is just an awesome Goat Simulator level for you to run around and goat it up in. It has some awesome slides that you can rag doll your way through, and it even features a giant catapult that will fling your goat to heights you never imagined possible. As fun as trouncing around in the default level is, you might get bored at some point, and this level has tons of cool stuff for you to explore.

As the name might lead you to think, this level is centered around a giant hill on which you can ragdoll your goat for some awesome sliding action. As far as level-based mods go, this is one of the more robust offerings on the Steam Workshop right now, and you can have a great deal of entertainment messing around with it.

The Lambyrinth

As you can probably guess from the name of this mod, (think labyrinth) it’s a giant maze that you have to walk around as your goat and try to find a way out. It even has some pretty interesting story reasons as to why your goat is in the maze, but I will let you discover that for yourself.

One thing to note about this level is that you will want to make sure to zoom your camera in closer to the goat, as you will often find it in the hedges, making it impossible to see. And before you think you can simply escape by flying out of the maze, think again. I tried, and there are invisible ceilings designed to keep you walking around aimlessly for ever.

Mega Goat Jump

This is a pretty simple level that, while not as robust as The Hill, is still a lot of fun. Basically, it consists of a landing track that lets you know how far you launched your goat. How do you send your goat flying? You either rag doll him down the giant ramp, or you walk him into a cannon. Watching your goat blast out of a cannon is always funny, and that alone makes this level worth a look.

As a bonus, there is also a little skatepark in the level, which allows you to rag doll your goat and pretend he’s a skateboard. This level is a that is definitely worth a download, even if you only use it as a way to blast your goat from a cannon a few times.

Nyangoat

There isn’t much I can say about this that you can’t extrapolate from the name. It makes your goat blast rainbows from his butt while the catchy Nyan Cat theme song plays. It’s dumb, which makes it perfect for Goat Simulator. Download it, and take in the great joy provided by the Nyan-ness.

A.P.M.

This is a smaller mod, that while not an entire new level for you to play on, is still a lot of fun. A.P.M. stands for Advanced Pitching Machine. Basically, it puts a baseball pitching machine on your goat’s back and allows you to blast everything around.

You can apply different properties to the balls, which increase the amount of nonsense they cause by a great deal. You can make them bounce, explode, compact, and more. It’s a lot of fun, and you can use it on any of the other levels you’ve downloaded to make things even more interesting.
