PS4 vs. Xbox One vs. Wii U: Which Games Console Will Win Out? [MakeUseOf Poll]

We are now well into this generation of games consoles, with the PS4, Xbox One, and Wii U all available to buy in most major territories. The PS4 has enjoyed the best start, with the Xbox One not far behind. The Wii U is struggling, but Nintendo is nothing if not resilient.

So, which games console will ultimately win the war that is currently raging?

Facebook Needs A Dislike Button

To answer this week’s question please scroll down the page until you see the poll staring back at you. But first, we need to look at the results from last week, when we asked, “How Many Facebook Pages Have You Liked?”

Out of a total of 135 votes, 21.5% chose Zero, I’m Not On Facebook, 23% chose 0-10, 15.6% chose 10-50, 7.4% chose 50-100, 9.6% chose 100-250, 5.9% chose 250-500, 8.2% chose 500-1000, 9% chose More Than 1000.

With so few votes cast it’s difficult to draw any definite conclusions from the results. However, what is strikingly clear is how few people actually know how many pages they have Liked on Facebook, with all of the commenters suggesting they had to check first.

Whether you took part in the poll or not, you really should check to see how many Facebook pages you have Liked. If the number is higher than you’re comfortable with then you should set about cleaning up your Facebook to make sure you’re not leaking more data than is absolutely necessary.

Simply sign into Facebook and look at the menu to the left of your News Feed. Scroll down until you see Pages Feed, and click on it. On the right-hand side of this page you’ll see On This List with a number beside it. Et voilà.

Comment Of The Week

We received a lot of great comments, including those from Amrit K, James Howde, and Hildy J. Comment Of The Week goes to Vipul J, who won with this comment:

I got 202 pages (had to check obviously).

Initially I was on a like spree, but soon I realized that the news feed can only hold so much info. That is when I started unliking pages that were really not useful and I had liked them just because I saw 1 funny picture by them.

Now with the unfollow function, I simply unfollow pages I do like but don’t want any info from (Eg: I liked the movie 300, so I liked the page. But now they post stuff about some movie by the same production which I have no interest in. Hence, unfollow)

Also I have noticed FB familiarizes itself to our patterns. Eg: Early morning I used to check out the FML post of the day, and maybe some Top Gear news. Now a new FML post is always on top of my news feed whenever I open the app, followed by other pages according to a similar sort code.

Some might consider this invasive, privacy breach etc. I think it’s actually good that FB is monitoring my likes & dislikes and sorting my news feed accordingly, saving me the trouble.
Because frankly, I gave up my privacy rights the moment I joined FB. I can’t yell at someone after I use their services for free!

Console Trek: The Next Generation

The newest games consoles onto the market aren’t all that new any more. The Wii U has been out for almost two years now, while the PS4 and Xbox One are closing in on the one-year mark (all in November). This means we’re starting to get a good idea of how this generation is going to play out. Or are we?

We want to find out your views on the current games consoles. Which do you think will succeed above the competition? Which would you personally like to see dominating the market? Or, if you’re a PC gamer instead, tell us all why we should ignore the lure of games consoles and buy a gaming rig instead.

Please vote in the poll above and then take to the comments section to explain the reasoning behind your decision. Remember, there’s an awesome T-shirt in it for the person responsible for the coveted Comment Of The Week. Which surely makes it all worthwhile.
