At this moment in time, the Oculus Rift is the face of virtual reality. It offers the best experience out of all VR devices on the market, and if you don’t believe that, then you should check out these incredible Oculus Rift videos pronto.
Last week, news broke that the Oculus Rift would be debuting with a price tag of $599. This is way more than what people thought it would be (expectations hovered somewhere around $350) and it resulted in a lot of backlash and controversy.
If the price doesn’t bother you, then you can go ahead and pre-order it right now — but before you do, you should check and see if your PC is powerful enough to handle it. As it turns out, virtual reality simulations require a lot of computing power and the average desktop simply won’t cut it.
The good news is that the Oculus Rift website provides an Oculus Rift compatibility tool that you can download and run for free, no installation necessary. It takes less than a minute but it can save you a lot of headache and disappointment.
Is your PC ready for the Oculus Rift? Are you going to dive right into the hype or would you rather wait and see how virtual reality progresses? Let us know in the comments below!
