Video Games I dont think he means having a meaningful alt

I don't think he means having a meaningful alt you have worked on, geared and actually play is a bad thing, even if you mostly use it for its profession. I think he means the alts that are brought to their absolute minimum level and content and then force-fed mats and rep until they have the most profitable combination available. That just puts strain on the system and potentially wastes names on otherwise throwaway characters used only to supplement mains.

As for me, I have my main as an engineer/miner. My 90 alts are a bs/miner, a jc/miner, two alchemist/herbalists (different specializations) and buy runescape accounts a tailor/enchanter. All of them meet minimum requirements to at least raid ToT in raidfinder, all of them are well through their profession-benefiting reputations, and most have at least a little exposure to reputations that do not benefit their professions. I play my alts, and I enjoy playing them. That's not what GC wants to crack down on.

I would love to see something implemented like, you pick your two main professions of course, but anyone other ones you would have to level up twice as much... So you have enchanting & tailoring at 600, but if you wanted to add alchemy to that you have to level it to 1,200, and then so on with the other professions, leatherworking 1,200, mining 1,200. But with blizz talking about numbers getting too high this might be an issue.Secondary profs and gathering should be account-wide. You should be able to learn all gathering profs and one (likely two so that people don't have to sell runescape accounts abandon one) crafting prof. The buffs from your main profession should be exclusive to the character that leveled the profession. The only thing I really care to see from account-wide professions is not needing to log on a different toon to craft something, mail it and log back.
