This simple side-scroller features a running man with unlimited stamina. He's caught in what appears to be an alien invasion and breaking out of his office by jumping through the window, he finds himself in perpetual motion as he runs across rooftops, jumps great distances and stumbles into crates and barrels along the way. It can kind of hurt to watch him jump into the side of a building, especially when you've managed to get him to run over a distance of over 10,000 meters.

Canabalt has a catchy, repeating soundtrack and allows you to post your scores onto Facebook and Twitter. You can even play it on your iPhone.

Scarygirl

Scarygirl can be best described as a platformer and an adventure game with puzzles. It would be a complete understatement to call this game a clever piece of work, if not a work of art. Given Scarygirl's quality, it's hard to believe that it is completely free -- but it is, and it's available for you to play right on your browser.

It's games as art, and in this particular painting, it's a scene of religious figures beating the hell out of each other.
