From System Shock to Super Mario: 10 Familiar Videogame Faces for The Sims 3

The Sims 3: Familiar Faces

As a stand alone game, The Sims 3 has enough content to last the average player a solid month's worth of play hours, only exponentially increased by the constant flow of new items in the Sims store. Nonetheless, a network of custom creators have dedicated themselves to beautifying The Sims 3 in all new ways, in this case, with detailed replicas of video games characters we've all come to know and love.

This list covers a vast array of titles from all corners of the video game universe, from Super Mario Bros. to System Shock. To install, follow the links (and be sure to read the instructions carefully, as they often require multiple custom tools, specific expansions, and certain patches either installed or uninstalled). Read on!

10. Mario and Luigi, Super Mario Bros.

Depicting the intrepid siblings of the classic Nintendo series, these Sims accurately represent perhaps the most important part of the brothers' aesthetics: the nose! Mario comes with the traits Friendly, Brave, Loves The Outdoors, Handy, and Good, while Luigi is Frugal, Genius, Good, Friendly, and Loves The Outdoors. Fitting for a pair o' guys that spend most of the time around mushrooms!

9. Leisure Suit Larry

Leisure Suit Larry is back and lookin' for love, exchanging his gold medallion for a tie but retaining that classic white polyester suit. Appropriately (or perhaps inappropriately) his traits are Flirty, Friendly, Great Kisser, Hopeless Romantic, and Neurotic.

8. Adam Jensen, Deus Ex: Human Revolution

The brooding, sexy face of Deus Ex: Human Revolution Adam Jensen is one I'd like to see over and over again. Maybe even do stuff to it. Now with this custom Sim, my virtual version can do it for me. He comes with the traits Brave, Daredevil, Hotheaded, Loner, and No Sense of Humor, just as a battered ex-cop should be.

This Sim also depicts Adam's augmented limbs and eyes, replicating his hexagonal forehead implant and sculpting the beard to give it an edgy point.

7. Chloe, Uncharted 2

It's nice to see Chloe, the stereotypical femme fatale of Uncharted 2, get some Sims love. She's particularly well crafted too. Her clothes and face are accurate, and her traits well chosen: Athletic, Flirty, Ambitious, Charismatic, and Daredevil. Even her hair is perfect! Now if only it had a British-Simlish accent.

6. Dante, Devil May Cry

The sleek and effortlessly cool Dante himself would probably approve of this Sim, featuring the billowy long white tresses and handsome jawline signature of the demon hunter's aesthetic. Fittingly, he has the traits Athletic, Brave. Charismatic, Party Animal, and Daredevil.

5. Alice, Alice: Madness Returns

This Sim version of the troubled heroine in American McGee's horror reimagining of Alice in Wonderland is beautiful as a stand-alone download, featuring the huge green eyes and dark hair that the character demands. She is undoubtedly enhanced however by this set of Alice: Madness Returns themed dresses, available from the gifted Meronin (also comes with a Vorpal Blade).

4. Bayonetta

Bayonetta's Sim version is everything the bad ass babe in black should be: Ambitious, Athletic, Brave, Flirty, and a Schmoozer. Sounds like my kinda gal. Protip: pair her with Dante, see where that union takes you. Hawwwt.

3. SHODAN, System Shock 2

Probably one of the most impressive efforts on the list, this Sim recreates the evil artificial intelligence of the System Shock universe, SHODAN, and puts her in a humanoid form. She comes with the traits Insane, Evil, Ambitious, Mean Spirited, and Computer Whiz.

2. Cloud, FFVII

This Sim version of Cloud from Final Fantasy VII is a triumph for its hair modeling alone. The outfit however, an accurate representation of his uniform among the elite 1st Class SOLDIERs, really completes the picture. Pair it with this Buster Sword and you got yourself the whole look.

1. Faith, Mirror's Edge

Of all the custom Sims on this list, by far the most accurate has to be this replica of Faith from Mirror's Edge. From the eyes to her hair and even the single red glove, this recreations is near-perfection. She comes everything a parkour princess needs, the traits of Ambitious, Athletic, Brave, Charismatic and Good Sense of Humor.
