It’s a little known fact that Minecraft’s worlds aren’t made up of fairy dust and magical incantations. For a fact, there’s some serious mathematical algorithms that determine how a world is shaped, and these worlds can in fact be shared through the use of ‘seeds’ which, when entered during a world’s creation, determine how that world is formed.
By default, the game grabs the current system time as the basic input for the starting values of a world and runs with that. However those seeds can be influenced, they can be copied and pasted into Minecraft’s underlying code, and thus renders the players able to go and recreate worlds.
On the countless Minecraft forums and wikis and websites out on the web, the community has a habit of collecting and sharing the best and most interesting seeds. Here we present a selection of outstanding seeds you can use to create the most stunning Minecraft worlds.
It is just a small collection you can use to create some interesting “naturally occurring” Minecraft worlds on the PC for the latest version of the game: Minecraft 1.6.1. Keep in mind that Minecraft has roughly 380 trillion unique and different worlds. This is really just a small selection. We can’t even count that high.
“desert”
Enter "desert" (without quotes) into the seed generator to receive extreme mountains! Apparently those mountains have a lot of similarities to the way alpha and beta Minecraft generated them.
“1.6”
A seed with some extreme caves, filled with cleanly executing mine shafts, tons of new, 1.6 update material and deep, dark, crazy ravines that open to the overworld.
