Bayonetta 2 Wiki – Everything you need to know about the game .

Bayonetta 2 is an upcoming and highly anticipated action hack and slash video game that is currently in development by Platinum Games (Vanquish and Wonderful 101) and produced by Atsushi Inaba who also produced the recently successful hack and slash, Metal Gear Rising Revengeance .

The game is currently in development exclusively for the Nintendo Wii U with Nintendo acting as the publishing body whereas property owners Sega are overseeing the project given that the franchise is theirs. Unlike the previous Bayonetta title, Bayonetta 2 will not be available on PlayStation 3 or the Xbox 360 (confirmed on September 13th of 2012), making a current generation port even less likely.

While there is no specific release date in place at the moment, the game is expected to arrive in Japan at some time in Summer of 2014 with no other dates available at this time. When Bayonetta 2 arrives it will be available at retail and via the Nintendo eShop.

Development

Bayonetta 2 only exists today as we know it due to the successful sales numbers of the original Bayonetta game. The game came into existence after the creator, Hideki Kamiya tweeted that if Bayonetta sold well enough he may release a sequel. It was later made public that Yusuke Hashimoto (the games director) and Hideki has previously discussed the possibility of a sequel or even potentially spin off titles, but at the time of this discussion, Hideki didn’t believe that Bayonetta would ever get a sequel.

The original pitch for Bayonetta 2 was turned down by property owners Sega due to financial woes. Not long after this, Platinum Games partnered with Nintendo so that they could work on their newest project, The Wonderful 101, this led into Nintendo make the decisions to fund and publish Bayonetta 2.

When the game was announced, the initial reveal was met with dissent from the Bayonetta fan base. But this was countered when Platinum Games Producer, Atsushi Inaba came to the games defence, aptly pointing out that the title would not even exist were it not for Nintendo. He went on to elaborate that Nintendo were part of the project as a supervisor and would not be involved in the process of making the game.

Gameplay

Bayonetta 2 shares a lot of similarities with its stylish and action orientated predecessor. It’s up to players to take control of Bayonetta while doing battle with with demons by making use of her various abilities and gun fighting skills which are similar toDevil May Cry franchise (which is to be expected given that Hideki Kamiya previously directed the successful demon slaying hack and slash franchise).

A new addition the games combat mechanics relies on the player being able to build a full gauge of magic power, when this gauge is activated, the player can execute a special move. This special ability unique to Bayonetta boosts the strength of all the player’s attacks with “Infernal Weaves” and Infernal Demon summons for the duration of the magic expenditure until the gauge is empty or sufficiently depleted.

Stringing combos together and using the Witch Time mechanic which will slow time and enemies enabling the player to engage their foe in a more tactical manner. Witch Time can also be used to aid in solving certain environmental puzzles that obstruct your path.

Story

Bayonetta 2 serves as a direct sequel to Bayonetta and as such the story picks up in the aftermath of the first game. Bayonetta and her once rival Jeanne do battle against the demons that are sporadically appearing on the land.

When Jeanne intercepts an enemy attack (the cause of which was a failed demon summoning), her souls is claimed by demons, where it is swiftly swept away. Bayonetta searches for a means to rescure the soul of Jeanne. Bayonetta endeavors to go and save her friend’s soul.
