Fire Emblem: Awakening Starter Classes Guide: Troubador, Fighter

With the possibility to truly switch classes for the first time ever in the series, Fire Emblem: Awakening has a lot of starter classes to choose from, allowing players to have a lot of freedom in customizing their army to their liking. While it’s true that characters won’t be able to switch to all starter classes, the choice is so broad that you will soon be forgetting about the limitations of the system. At the end of day, it will be up to you to create a really effective team with the right combination of classes and skills and we’re here to help you making these choices but going over all the starter and advanced classes of the game, with some general features and skills coming as default for the class.

  • Troubador

The Troubadors are stronger versions of the Cleric and Priest classes: they have the advantage of being mounted, being able to cover more ground with their nice movement range. However, just like the other classes, their absolutely not meant for the frontlines: their stats are pretty low save for resistance and magic and against stronger units they die in a few hits. They are, however, more resistant that clerics and priests still, against warriors and knight they have absolutely no hope of survival. Troubadors can only equip staves, they learn the Resistance +2 skill at level 1 and the Secluded Lady Skill at level 10. They can promote to Valkyrie or Battle Cleric, depending on your choice.

  • Fighter

The fighter is a male only class and as you would expect it specializes in melee fighting: they can only equip axes and the only thing they can do is dish out some decent damage. They have high HP and Streght, moderate speed which allows them sometimes to attack twice against slower enemies, but horrible defense, being taken down even with a single hit when facing stronger enemies. The best strategy to use them is to make an healer stand next to the fighter in all occassions and heal him whenever possible: even like this you may be taking some chances since the healer might be killed if placed near the front lines. Everything considered, it’s best to use the Fighter only to promote him to the better advanced classes. The fighter can only equip axes and learns the Max Hp+5 skill at level 1 and the Fiery Hearth skill at level 10. The Fighter promotes to Hero or Warrior, depending on your choice.
