PAX Prime 2014: Wander Preview

Every year when I visit PAX Prime,  I like to spend at least one day of the long weekend exploring the halls of the Convention Center with no real plan in mind, visiting booths spontaneously based on what catches my eye.

This past Monday I got caught up in a game called Wander, an indie title coming to PC this summer and PlayStation 4 in early 2015.

Described as a non-competitive MMO, Wander focuses on exploration and cooperative discovery in a breathtaking atmosphere.

Players take the form of a shapeshifter, and in their time in the mysterious rainforest piece together the reasons for their transformation, guided by enchanting music and long forgotten relics, and immersed in the rich sound design and gorgeous landscape.

I'm not much of a fan of MMOs or co-op games, but the idea of one that does not rely on combat intrigues me. I found the scenery very appeasing and it was the main reason I dropped everything to watch the demo.

Currently you can access the alpha for varying prices starting at $25, with major reward tiers at $50 and above.

I'm not sure I would pay more than $25 for the entire experience but I did find it very soothing and beautiful and would love to spend several hours with it on a stressful day. I look forward to this release. You can check the official website out here.
