Fed up of the disturbances and simply want the freedom to enjoy your playthroughs without players invading your session and hacking you during gameplay? During Ubisoft’s latest open world release, you may occasionally pass another Watch Dogs player who has sneakily hacked into your world to attempt to steal your data, before returning to their own world. You are able to prevent this from happening, by tracking down the invaders before they are able to capture your valuable data. However, if you’re simply just fed up of the chase, game designer Danny Belanger, explains that we are able to switch off this option.
“All the online activities are just part of the menu,” he explains “They’re a choice. But if someone is not into that … they can totally turn it off.”

How to turn off multiplayer in Watch Dogs
To play hassle free simply visit the main menu and head to ‘options’. Select ‘online’ and then scroll down right to the bottom where it says ‘online invasions’ and disable this option. By following these instructions, this will prevent players from invading you but you must also note that you will also not being able to participate in online hacking and tailing yourself. Your Notoriety points will also be reset to 0 and any Notoriety skills that you have unlocked will all be lost following this option being disabled. If you’re worried about players interrupting you whilst your attempting to complete missions, then you needn't worry as Ubisoft has confirmed that these online invasions will only occur during free roam and not during any other events where it may be deemed intrusive. You may also be comforted to know that the game will adapt alongside your behavior, the less that you partake in the hacking and tailing activities, the less likely you are to be entered into the pool allowing players to hack into your world. Ubisoft reassures us that the style of the game is influenced by player involvement, and so you may want to consider hanging on before switching off those invasions.
