Evolve: How To Play As The Wraith

Evolve may be getting its butt kicked in user ratings by Dying Light, but there are still some dedicated gamers out there looking for some asymmetric, competitive multiplayer in the form of a semi-traditional FPS. Evolve partially fulfills that niche. One thing that gamers have been eager to learn more about is the one monster that they can’t kill as hunters and that they want to play as on the monster side: The Wraith.

There are a few guides available covering how to play as the sneaky creature as well as how to unlock the Wraith.

The first video comes courtesy of ArcticvBi, offering some very useful visual tips on how to master the Wraith early on.

Stay low, avoid alerting the birds. If the birds fly up into the sky they’ll alert Daisy and the rest of the hunters, giving them an idea as to what your position is.

Keep away from the hunters as much as possible, moving to the opposite side of the map as often as possible, and as quickly as possible in order to eat as many creatures as you can in order to level up.
Also, be sure to use the sneak attacks on the animals to keep your presence as low profile as you can. If the animals/creatures/monsters keep running from you then it’ll alert the hunters and key them in to your position.

For abilities, “Decoy” is one of the abilities you’ll definitely want to level up early on because it can help you plot getaways while also using it as a way to plan sneak attacks. When activating the decoy the Wraith becomes invisible. The only drawback to the decoy is that if you’re tagged by getting shot or hit, the hunters will be able to spot the difference between the real Wraith and the decoy since the real Wraith will be highlighted and the decoy will fade.

Adbuction isn’t a bad skill for creating separation between hunters, but the better alternative is to lead the hunters astray by getting one or two of them to chase you or to sneak attack on them while they aren’t paying attention.

ZiggyD goes more into detail about each of the skills and adds some commentary about what each skill does and how it can be utilized for his particular play-style. It’s a lengthy video but well worth a watch if you want to micromanage your expertise in playing as the Wraith.

If you manage to get the hunters all together and need to unleash some massive damage, the Supernova attack is great for that. Alternatively, if you manage to separate a hunter or two and keep them away from the rest of the team, Supernova is excellent as a way to easily dispatch the opposition so you can move on to another target.

Once a Wraith manages to single out two hunters and create separation within the team, it’s pretty much game over for the hunters.

In order to unlock the Wraith you’ll need to get one star on all of the Kraken’s abilities, which actually requires one star on all of the Goliath’s abilities before it can be unlocked. A very brief guide on to quickly unlock the Wraith can be viewed in a video below from ZiggyD Gaming. Check it out below.

As the videos above showcase, there’s no one particular way to play as the Wraith, but if you want to own up, those are some easy methods to utilize in order to get an edge on the opposition.

Evolve is available right now for the PC, the Xbox One and the PS4. The game has a very antipodes Metacritic score between users and professional critics, so just keep that in mind. You can learn more about the game by paying a visit to the official website.
