Destiny Queen's Wrath Event Guide

Minor story spoiler ahead…

It’s been two weeks since Bungie has released Destiny to gamers all over the world. Last week they opened the Vault of Glass for guardians to test their mettle. This week they aim to draw players back in once again with the newest event: Queen’s Wrath.

Since its release many have been complaining about the drop rate for legendary items in Destiny. Queen’s Wrath looks to alleviate some of the frustration by guaranteeing a legendary to anyone who hears the Queen’s call. For those of you who don’t know who this is: she is the Awoken Queen who rules over the reef, the asteroid belt that has been riddled with the debris, of those who tried to enter.

At a point in the story you approach her for assistance. She helps, but in exchange for a favor whenever you are needed. The Queen’s Wrath event is her call for that favor to be returned. So gear up and follow these easy steps and you’ll soon have some purple items prettying up your inventory.

1. Seek Xander 99-40 in the Tower

If you’ve been playing Destiny for a while, you already know about the daily bounties available to you. These are a perfect way to boost your Vanguard and Crucible reputation as well as earn some much needed experience towards your skill trees and weapons. Queen’s Wrath adds some new bounties to the board to get you into good standing with the Queen’s emissary.

These bounties contain tasks for both story/exploration and Crucible. While they are largely similar to what’s available from both the Crucible and Vanguard, they ask for a bit more than what you would normally expect. For example, one of the bounties asks that you get 200 precision kills against the fallen when the game usually requests only 100.

While they may seem like your standard fare for bounties, they include one more reward that isn’t listed on the bounty description. Upon completion of the bounties you will receive a Queen’s Order. This is what makes these bounties necessary for the Queen’s Wrath event and bring you one step closer to legendary items.

2. Enter the Queen’s Wrath Story Challenge

Once you have collected at least one of these orders you will now be able to participate in the story challenge for this Destiny event. It is a level 24 mission so you need to be at least level 22 in order to participate. Make sure you are prepared and have the best of your armory equipped.

The Queen’s Wrath kill order is a story challenge that commissions you and whomever you choose to accompany you to hunt down and kill a target. When chosen, you are not informed what mission you are embarking on until it begins. Every time you start the kill order, the Epic modifier will be enacted, which provides stronger, more aggressive enemies whenever you enter a dark zone.

Make sure you are well prepared though, because aside from the Epic modifier two other random modifiers will be thrown in to the mix as well. These can range from from Juggler which prevents any ammo from dropping for you equipped weapon to Lightswitch that has enemies dealing extra melee damage. While Epic might not be too hard of a task for a seasoned guardian, any combination of the random modifiers can prove deadly.

Once completed, you will be rewarded with one of several legendary items. All come emblazoned with the Queen’s sigil and have different boons attached to them. With the ability to complete six bounties per day, you have six chances to earn your own legendary gear to prepare yourself for the greater dangers that lurk in the worlds of Destiny. For those who feel they can’t meet the challenge, the developers at Bungie have provided a means for you to get your hands on some legendary and rare items as well.

3. Visit the Queen’s Emissary Petra Venj

If you have just begun your journey into the worlds of Destiny, defeating the Queen’s Wrath story challenge may prove to be impossible. But have no fear for you have until October 6 to gain the queen’s favor. Better yet, once you have built up a reputation you will have the ability to purchase legendary and rare items from her emissary, Petra Venj, who is located just beyond the area you arrive in at the Tower.

Reaching the first reputation benchmark allows you to purchase a shader unique to Queen’s Wrath, to show that you’ve answered the call. For those who put in the time and effort and reach higher ranks, there are more options available. Reaching rank 2 allows you to purchase an item unique to your class to show your allegiance to the Queen of the Reef. If firepower is more to your liking, then there is something for you as well.

In order to make the newest event in Destiny worthwhile to newcomers, they will also have the ability to purchase rare and powerful weapons. While there is no armor available at the moment, this is a definite step in the right direction in order to keep players involved. While you may be too new to earn some powerful protection, all that is necessary is to complete bounties and you will be well armed as you endeavor to become legend.

With these three simple steps you will see the light roll in and your level go up. Seeing as how Queen’s Wrath is the first real story event in Destiny it is definitely a step in the right direction. New bounties with new opportunities are always welcome, especially if they enable you to become the more powerful guardian you aim to be. Now go and heed the Queen’s call and as always, safe travels guardians.
