If you’ve read our beginner’s guide you know that Dragon Ball XenoVerse does not provide you with a charging technique in the beginning of the game. For every race other than Earthling, you have to either inflict or receive damage in order to charge up your Ki. For those not in the know, Ki is the energy pool that powers your super and ultimate attacks. That being said, you can see how important a charging skill is.
There are three different Ki charging skills in Dragon Ball XenoVerse but the one most worth your time is the Maximum Charge super skill. This skill uses no Ki or Stamina, and it has the ability to rapidly charge up your Ki to have you dishing out the powerful to put your enemies down. What makes Maximum Charge particularly special compared to the other charge techniques is that it works pretty quickly. Knocking your opponent down once should grant you enough time to charge four or more blocks of Ki power.
You can purchase this Maximum Charge for a pretty penny in Toki-Toki City, but it is well worth every last Zeni. Alternatively, you can beat Parallel Quest No. 32 Super Saiyan Bargain Sale and hope it drops.
Giant Storm is one of the many ultimate attacks you can get in Dragon Ball XenoVerse, and you can actually get access to it pretty early through the shop. It sets off an explosion under whoever you’re targeting and can even do damage to any other enemies who happen to get a bit to close. It is a Ki Blast that benefits from the Ki Blast Supers stat. What makes this attack so great is it’s range and area of effect.
A lot of the attacks in Dragon Ball XenoVerse, particularly the beam ones, don’t have the best of ranges. You will find yourself firing them, and it will look as if you made contact but your adversary will walk away completely unscathed without even blocking or using an evasive skill. Giant Storm doesn’t seem to have that problem. Yes, it is possible to block just like any other attack in the game but it has a very long range, and since the blast appears at the foot of your target it’s pretty hard for them to dodge.
There is nothing better than grouping enemies together in Dragon Ball XenoVerse only to send them rocketing with a fiery explosion .This attack also works wonders against smaller enemies so make sure to let it rip when you find yourself surrounded.
If you’re a fan of the Dragon Ball anime then you are probably familiar with the Ginyu Squad. After you encounter them during the story of Dragon Ball XenoVerse you will have the ability to train under none other than Captain Ginyu. If you manage to complete all of his mentor quests you will gain access to his pride and joy; the Body Change skill.
The Body Change skill is an ultimate attack that allows you to switch bodies with your opponent. Not only does this give you access to a new set of skills, but you will also swap your health condition as well, instantly turning the tide of battle. Granted, it isn’t exactly the easiest attack to land; after all, it is a huge game changer. But, if you do manage to successfully pull Body Change off you can capitalize on your enemy’s confusion and rip them a new one.
As long as you have no qualms with punching your own body in the face, and possibly setting it ablaze as well, then Body Change is definitely a powerful skill that you need to get your hands on.
Genocide Shell is an interesting attack. It’s a Ki Blast but it doesn’t really go anywhere. If you try and fire this attack at an enemy more than a couple of steps away you will instead find four purple orbs that just sit in a row in front of you. It may not seem like much but it actually proves to be quite useful against stronger opponents, especially those you face in the later sagas of Dragon Ball XenoVerse.
You see, these floating orbs are actually pretty potent masses of Ki energy. If an enemy is silly enough to touch one (or all of them) they will be treated to a rather nasty shock and some knock back action. This is very effective against enemies such as Broly. Even the most powerful fighters in the game exhibit a bit of apprehension once you lay out Genocide Shell. This provides an opportunity to set up an attack that has a larger than normal charge time such as the Recoome Eraser Gun.
In a game that is all about speed and power, being able to scare some enemies back to set up powerful combos is invaluable. You can grab this pretty little skill by completing Parallel Quest No. 49 Saiyan Revolt.
You probably looked at the title and thought “there is no move called transformations!”, and you’re 100% correct. But there are a few moves that fall under the school of transformation that each serve their purpose. You have several different levels of Kaioken, Super Saiyan, and even one called Super Vegeta. One can easily say any of these is the best in Dragon Ball XenoVerse, but it really comes down to your build.
Kaioken uses up your Stamina, while the Super Saiyan option (only used by the Saiyan race of course) eats up your Ki. You wouldn’t want the higher form of either of these skills if you don’t have the proper resource pool to make them last a substantial amount of time. No matter which one you choose to equip, they grant you an amazing advantage for a short period of time.
If used at the proper time you can easily take down the strongest opponents with increased speed and power. Just like in the Dragon Ball anime the sudden burst of energy will put anyone wise enough on the defensive. Most can be purchased (prices reaching up to 100,000 Zeni), but many can be earned in most of the earlier Parallel Quests. Just choose a solid team and go earn your transformations.
Now this is a very useful skill in Dragon Ball XenoVerse if you’re the type that likes to get up close and personal. Playing the close fight requires that you stay on your toes and be able to dodge quickly and efficiently. This tends to eat up your Stamina. Running out of Stamina in a close range fight is akin to showing up to a gun fight completely naked and unarmed. Bad things will happen to you, and victory will definitely not shine down upon your created fighter.
Luckily the folks at Bandai Namco allow you to collect and then use a skill that solves your energy problem and keeps you in contending form. Hyper Drain is a close range attack that steals both Ki and Stamina from your opponent. Not only does this ensure that you’ll be able to dodge any ultimate attacks, but now you have a bit of juice to dish out some supers of your own.
Of course a move this potent isn’t just laying around for anyone to add to their repertoire. If you want to have this in your staple of super moves you’re going to have to complete Parallel Quest No. 48 and hope for it to drop. You’ll be facing some seriously powerful fighters, but a skill like this is well worth the risk.
Who doesn’t like invincibility? The power to negate all damage as you dash in for a masterful onslaught is coveted by everyone. Usually it’s hidden behind some “God Mode” cheat code, or it’s something you unlock after beating a game. What if we told you that in Dragon Ball XenoVerse it only costs a few hundred Zeni? Yeah you read that correctly, you can buy invincibility for a very low price…sort of.
Super Guard is a super move that uses Ki in order to completely protect you from any attack. Of course you have to actually hold the button for the protection so it isn’t something that breaks the game. Dragon Ball XenoVerse is still a fighting game so you’ll have to be somewhat tactical if you add this move to your arsenal. It uses up a lot of Ki and it takes pretty long to activate when compared to just regular blocking.
If you happen to have a Ki heavy build, this is the perfect super to protect from ultimate attacks and any attack that homes in on you. Very useful for and against long range fighters since it will neutralize any serious threat.
There is a slight chance that you’ve not only played Dragon Ball XenoVerse, but you have also had the opportunity to delve into it’s multiplayer modes. There is already a spreading hatred of individuals who spam a particular high powered ultimate attack. That attack is none other than the Death Ball. It is a huge ball of Ki energy that deals massive amounts of damage, but of course that’s not nearly enough.
The Death Ball homes in on enemies and even has a slight vortex ability to pull in any unlucky sap who happens to be a bit too close. What makes this nasty little (well not so little) ultimate attack so dangerous, and the main reason you should covet it, is the fact that you can shoot off a Death Ball while one is still active. This means you can essentially trap an enemy and kill them before they ever has a chance to recover.
Of course this isn’t a move that you should use against other players in multiplayer. Where is the fun in spamming when others are just seeking friendly competition? No, don’t go ruining anyone’s fun time; instead, turn one of Dragon Ball XenoVerse‘s most powerful moves on the AI enemies you’ll encounter in the later sagas. Fighting off three or more Super Saiyans at once isn’t exactly a cup of tea, but a move that sends everyone scurrying while at the same time cooking them from the inside out will more than even the score.
Of course, like several of the other potent skills on this list, Death Ball isn’t just laying around for anyone to stumble upon. If you want to get your hands on this one you’ll have to complete Parallel Quest No. 22 with an Ultimate Finish which is much easier said than done. Not only must you complete the Quest in a hurry, but you must make sure to defeat even the little minions before you primary targets and to leave Frieza for last. If all goes well you’ll trigger the secret challenge. Complete it and you will have a chance to obtain one of the most powerful attacks in Dragon Ball XenoVerse.
Are there any skills you feel are worth grabbing for those seeking only the most useful of abilities? If so, feel free to share!
