If ever you’ve watched the Disney channel, then you’re probably familiar with Phineas and Ferb as well as their pet platypus Perry, who also lives a double life as Agent P, world class spy and secret agent. With Where’s My Perry, help Agent P with his new mission and stop Dr. Doofenshmirtz with his nefarious plans to take over the city by leading water from one area of the level to another. It may sound simple enough, but the challenges within the over 80 levels in the game will indeed test your skills.
Gameplay
Derived from the successful game Where’s My Water, players must dig through the dirt using finger swipes and lead the water, either in pool form or coming from a pipe, towards the pipe where Perry is located in. Along the way, there are various obstacles as well as other items that can either help you or block your path. It is through strategic planning and timing that you would be able to reach your goal, and therein lies the brunt of the challenge within the game.
Gnomes
Three gnomes are scattered in each level. Taking the place of rubber duckies from Where’s My Water, these are used to unlock further levels. You can replay previous levels over and over again in order to acquire the required amount of gnomes. Collecting gnomes, usually by hitting them with water, will also provide you with a higher score. However, gnomes will disappear if they are hit by sludge or lava.
Crazy-inators
The Crazy-inators are devices created by Dr. Doof in order to give further challenge for Agent P to complete his mission. There are different types of Crazy-inators that come in the form of lasers, and each have varying effects such as turning water to ice and vice-versa. Some types also turn water into confetti, which do not serve your purposes except as a colorful display that would cause you to fail the level. The former two Crazy-inators can also be used to your advantage as these can also be used to complete the puzzle.
Sludge and Lava
There are also sludge and lava that you can encounter during further levels. Sludge blocks pathways, and can also provide you with new access points, while lava turns water into steam. Both of these can also be used as ways to solve puzzles, but players must take care as any of these reaching the pipe near Agent P will also cause you to fail the level.
Secret Files
There are secret files scattered randomly within each mission. These are hidden in the dirt, and players can search for them in order to access hidden levels where they would be guiding Phineas and Ferb character Balloony towards the top of the map while avoiding thorns and other obstacles. This is an extra game that players can play outside of the normal levels.
Players will be informed that there is a secret file on the map if there is a question mark sign on the top left of the screen.
Strategy
The strategy to Where’s My Perry is to think ahead before making a move. See how everything is laid out and see how everything reacts with each other. Every item within the level serves each other, so if your imagined path misses out on something, then that’s probably not the way to do it.
Sometimes, timing is also essential, as carefully timing swipes and other movements can be important in order to solve puzzles. Some areas may close just in time to block lasers when you remove dirt and release your water just right.
Of course, trial and error strategies would work also. Swipe one way and retry if it doesn’t work. There are no game overs in Where’s My Perry, so you can do retries however many ways that you like. This is also a good way to know where secret files are located. Simply swipe at all the dirt and restart the level once you’ve found where it is.
Most importantly, try to visualize the way the water would flow and fall even before it happens. Take the time to think how you can use the environment to your favor. Every level, just like any puzzle, has at least one solution, so the challenge behind the game is to find that one solution that will clear the round and get all gnomes and available secret files.
