1. WHAT ARE MEDALS?
Medals are the Pokemon equivalent to achievements on Xbox 360 or trophies on PlayStation 3. They are rewards given based on certain tasks completed in the game, though they function quite differently than achievements and trophies do.

Not all the medals are available at the beginning of the game. One has to talk to Mr. Medal in Pokemon Centers for more medals, which will be distributed based on where the player is in the game and other medals they’ve earned. Mr. Medal is first found in Floccesy Town.

2. HOW TO GET MEDAL BOX
Before any medals can be collected, trainers must first speak with Mr. Medal, the owner of the promotion. Mr. Medal will automatically confront the player in the course of the story, as soon after the player completes Alder’s training program in Floccesy Town.

Mr. Medal will hand over the Medal Box, where all medals are stored. Players can look at medals they’ve earned by going to the Key Items in the Bag and then clicking on the Medal Box. This will offer a description of the Medals and record the day it was earned. Hint Medals are also available to look at; Hint Medals are medals given as placeholders for real medals, and offer hints as to what must be accomplished to earn more medals.

After accomplishing the medal’s task, speak with Mr. Medal to receive your medal.

3. MEDALS
001. First Step
Description: A Medal given to all Medal Rally participants at the beginning. A symbol of a Trainer’s potential.
Strategy: To obtain this medal, simply obtain the medal box. This will be the first medal that can be received. The game will make you mark it as your favorite medal since it is the first medal that you have, and therefore it is the only one that can be your favorite medal currently.

002.

003. Dowsing Beginner
Description: A Medal to praise sharp-eyed Trainers who found a hidden item for the first time.
Strategy: This medal will probably be earned in the game by happenstance if anything else. Hidden items are items that are tucked away behind houses or in trash cans. There are plenty of opportunities to find hidden items throughout the game, but one of the earliest and most obvious ones is in Virbank City.

As soon as you enter the town from the west, go south until you see a house with a blue roof. To the left of this house is a trashcan. Examine the trashcan to find an Antidote inside. This will satisfy the requirement for this Medal.

016. Light Walker
Description: A Medal to praise light walkers who took 5,000 steps on the land of Unova
Strategy: This is a fairly easy medal to obtain. Just by walking around in the game, you will obtain this medal. For reference, I got this one in Virbank City, the town with the second gym leader, so it can be obtained very early on in the game.

017. Pokemon Center Fan
Description: A Medal given to kind Trainers who let their Pokemon rest at Pokemon Centers many times.
Strategy: I don’t know exactly how many times you need to take your Pokemon to the Pokemon Center, but getting this medal is easy enough. Regularly taking your Pokemon to the Center will get this medal very easily. For reference, I was in Virbank City when I earned the medal.

020. Evolution Hopeful
Description: A Medal for promising Trainers who evolved a Pokemon for the first time.
Strategy: Just as the medal describes, you need to make a Pokemon evolve to earn this Medal. To make a Pokemon evolve, you need to level them up to a certain level. There are some Pokemon that can only be evolved using special stones. And there are some Pokemon that can only be evolved by trading with another player.
