Block Fortress Walkthrough [Guide]

It’s Minecraft meets Wolfenstein with some tower defense sprinkled on top in this stimulating game from Foursaken Games. Block Fortress requires players to build structures that they will use to push back the dastardly Goblocks. Strategize and plan your block constructions, and use deadly aim in order to clear each relentless horde.

Despite its simplistic graphics, Block Fortress can pose as a challenge for anyone, as they will be the lone survivor in an open world that will be continuously attacked by wave after wave of enemies. How long you are able to survive would definitely depend on how you construct your makeshift fortress using everything that you can get your hands on, as well as how accurately you can shoot at the Goblocks that are out to get you.

Gameplay
Like Minecraft, players can build and construct fortresses and obstacles that they can use in order to block the Goblocks’ attack. You will also be provided with weapons that you can use in order to eliminate enemies one by one. The game switches between building, where you are free from attacks, and first person shooting, where you will be able to see how formidable your fortress each as wave after wave of enemies come down on you.

Game Modes
Block Fortress provides players with three modes, specifically Quickstart, Sandbox, and Survival. Each mode are similar in terms of gameplay and increasing difficulty but differ in the mechanics.

With Quickstart, players can create as big and as elaborate a fortress that they want, including walls, turrets, machine guns, and many more. After this, wave after wave of Goblocks will stop attacking without respite, and you will not have a chance to heal or make repairs. The second mode, Survival, will have you fending off each individual wave with decreasing money and resources. However, you will be given an unlimited amount of time in order to rebuild your fortress with whatever items you have in hand or have earned from the previous wave. Lastly, Sandbox mode gives you unlimited resources and time to prepare your fortress against an attack, and is basically a mode where you can try out everything available within the game once you have conquered everything else.

Building
The main mission within Block Fortress is to defend your barracks. You can place your barracks anywhere in the world, and you can also place supporting units that will better help protect the area. These include walls and other obstacles, and you can also place machine guns that would require power blocks in order to operate. Other hazards that you can use to hinder the Goblocks’ attacks include mines and turrets.

Mine shafts can also be built in order to mine minerals that you can use to repair damaged blocks during each intermission period between waves.

Shooting
Once you’re done building your defenses, the game will now switch to first person mode, where players would be able to see Goblocks approaching. Players can move around their barracks by tapping and holding on the left side of the screen. They can also move the crosshairs and change their view using the right side of the screen. The red button, when pressed, will cause the player to shoot, and most enemies would require several hits in order to be killed.

Players can switch weapons by tapping on the list of available weaponry below. Each weapon type has different ranges, fire rate, strength, and ammunition capacity, so players must choose wisely as t which weapon to use depending on the situation. Once all enemies have been cleared, then the level will end.

Intermissions
At the end of each wave, information will be displayed with regards to the numbers of enemies killed, minerals mined, as well as gold earned. Gold is very important here as it can be used to purchase other items that can fortify and otherwise build or enhance your defenses.

It should be noted that, depending on the material used in the blocks being placed i.e. wood, metal, stone, etc., durability will play a factor as weaker materials would be taken down much more easily. Of course, stronger blocks will cost more.

Once a wave has been cleared, the next batch of enemies would become more numerous as well as much more difficult to kill. That is why players must be able to use their resources wisely in improving defenses, like repairing damaged walls and adding more machine guns, as well as weaponry in order to keep up with the increasing difficulties.

Tips and Tricks
In cases where ammunition is limited, you must choose your shots carefully. Accuracy is much better than just shooting at everything. Reserve bullet sprays for when enemies are close together and are already near you. You can also opt to use weapons that deal range damage in these types of situations. It will pose a big problem if Goblocks are pouring from all over and you do not have enough ammo for them all.

Aside from building walls to protect you, aim to place weapons all over the map that will help thin out enemies for when they are closer to you. Players can literally build machine guns and mines anywhere, and it would help a lot if a goodish number of Goblocks have already been defeated or weakened even before they come within shooting distance.

Always think ahead when constructing. Use walls to help herd enemies into one place so that you’ll have less of a surface area to defend, and make them work for each step as you try to take them down before coming any closer. Also, try to purchase the toughest materials possible so that they would not be taken down that easily.

Lastly, decide if you would like to make repairs or just build newer and stronger blocks. Always remember that you have limited resources, and you would not have a chance to rebuild until after the wave is cleared. Think several moves ahead and try to intercept the Goblocks’ movement so that you would have a more distinct advantage over the hordes as they attack.
