Ryse: Son of Rome – Collectibles [Guide]

In Ryse: Son of Rome for Xbox One, there’s three different types of
collectibles to find in the levels. There’s Chronicles, which are found in
little buckets around the stages; Scrolls, which are found on dead bodies; and
Vistas, which come in the form of shields that are found lying around the
environment.

All of the collectibles in the game are highlighted green. So if you are
having troubles finding a specific collectible, just look for the green glow.

This guide is designed to help you find every single collectible in Ryse: Son

Now on to the collectibles! There’s 42 Chronicles, 27 Scrolls, and 21 Vistas.
This is a total of 90 different collectible items that you need to gather in
order to get all of the collectibles in Ryse: Son of Rome.

Chapter I: The Beginning

To help make it easier to scan the guide and find what you’re looking for,
whenever I mention the item (i.e., CHRONICLE, SCROLL, VISTA), I write their
name in all caps.

At the outset of the game, you’ll be on a bridge pushing against the barbarian
enemies. Check the left side of the bridge for a little wooden platform that
extends outward. There is a dead soldier there. Examine his body to get the
first SCROLL in the game.

When are you right outside the palace doors, look to your left. Leaning against
the stone railing is the first VISTA of the game. Inside the palace when you
are escorting Nero to the vault, he will wait for you to go through the door
before continuing. Walk forward, turn around, and then to the right of the
entranceway is a potted plant. Behind the plant is the first CHRONICLE of the
game.

When you’re tasked with clearing a path to the vault by Nero, don’t run down
the steps. Take a left and go up the stairs, Walk all the way down here and
when you reach the wall, look right to see a CHRONICLE sitting by some
furniture. Then go to the opposite side of the room and you’ll find the other
CHRONICLE sitting on a small little balcony. Continue to the end of this
room to find the VISTA leaning against the pillar.

Chapter II: S.P.Q.R.

When given the objective to find Leonitus in the city, the VISTA will be
leaning against a stone bench in between two potted plants. From that point,
you will walk right over the fallen soldier that has the first SCROLL in this
level on him. Hang a right after going through this walkway and the
CHRONICLE will be sitting next to a gate.

Once you start following Leonitus, he will lead you right by a VISTA hanging
on the wall. When your objective is to meet Platius, you’ll be at an area
with a pool in the middle and there’s a large statue here as well. There is
someone looking over the wounded, so grab the SCROLL from the fallen soldier
next to these two, right behind Leonitus.

Later, you will climb down some scaffolding. Move down the street, take a
right, and once again you’ll find the CHRONICLE nexto a closed gate. When
you get to the point that you need to lower the bridge, climb up the
areas that you’re supposed to as designated by the objective markers. Hop
down the other side, move through the alley, and as soon as there is some
space to move right, do it and you’ll find a wagon. Right by the wagon is
another CHRONICLE.

You’ll then get the objective to get to the Forum. Hug the left side of the
street to find the VISTA. This will be the final collectible of the level and
it is sitting in plain sight, so it is impossible to miss.

Chapter III: Trial by Fire

Right off the bat, you’ll see a dead soldier to your left. Climb up the
rubble of the broken ship and take a left to find another VISTA. Continue,
and then when you drop down a hole, turn around and you’ll find a CHRONICLE.
So bam, bam, bam, three collectibles right in a row.

When you reach the beach, there will be another dead soldier to the right.
Remember, loot the bodies of the dead soldiers to find SCROLLS. Directly
across from this soldier is water with some jagged rocks. The CHRONICLE is
located between the jagged rocks.

As you near some buildings, there will be a fire. Before you get as far as
the fire, there is an alcove with another collectible, so nab it. Keep
playing the level until you reach the objective to open the two chain locks
and defend the main gates. There is a VISTA leaning against the pillar up
here, so grab it.

Back on the beach, there will be another CHRONICLE next to a spiked barricade
on the right side of the beach. Keep playing and you’ll be tasked with killing
archers. As you climb up the the platform, there is a VISTA here. Grab it,
hop down, take a right, and you’ll find a CHRONICLE.

Once again, hug the right side of the level when tasked with reaching the
forward catapult tower to get another collectible. In the middle of this
area is a couple of barrels and yet another collectible. Snag them all.

Later when you climbing the castle, be sure to loot the dead soldier on the
middle landing for a SCROLL. At the top, check the roof for a VISTA.

Chapter IV: The King

Upon reaching the water, take a left and get back on dry land. The VISTA will
be leaning against a rock. Later when you are finding your way to the
aqueduct, you have to move through a wooded area. Do not go to the objective
marker. Check to the left and you will see a log that you can move underneath.
Go underneath the log and follow the wilderness in this direction until you
get to a CHRONICLE that is right next to the water.

Later you’ll be tasked with finding a safe spot to cross the river. Move
out into the water, and take a left to the small waterfall. You’ll find a
SCROLL on a dead soldier here. Later as you continue into the level, you’ll
see another log on the path to move under. Take a right as you move down
the path is another CHRONICLE.

Later you have to get to the archer positions. Move through the piles of
dead bodies (icky). Climb up the wooden platforms. Very cleary to the right
is a body that is glowing green. Loot it for a SCROLL. Continue climbing up
and check the stables to find another SCROLL behind a wooden box.

Moving back outside, climb up the platform with the blue flag hanging
down it. Take a right and you’ll find yet another SCROLL. Then later take
the wooden elevator up. Hop over the barrels on your right to find another
CHRONICLE.

A little bit ater that you have to kill off the remaining enemies in the
stage. Once again, hug the right area to find another SCROLL. You’ll then
have to move through a cave system. There will be a skeleton on a slab. Check
behind the slab to find another CHRONICLE.

When tasked with breaking down the door, check the rock near the soldiers to
find the VISTA. You’ll also find the CHRONICLE here as well, just on the other
side of a wall. Obviously you’ll want to get these collectibles before you
break down the door and continue the level. These will be the last collectibles
you need to snag before continuing the level.

Chapter V: Edge of the World

At the very beginning of the level, turn around and move past your soldiers.
In the brush will be the first collectible of the level, a CHRONICLE. Lead
them through the woods, and when there’s a path to move to the right, check
it out to find a small clearing with another CHRONICLE.

When given the objective to look for signs of your cohort, there is a place
to jump down. Painted on the rock wall next to this ledge is a weird symbol,
and next to that symbol is the VISTA leaning against the wall.

On the same objective, you will come across a camp. Move past the camp. Jump
over the log blocking the way to the left. Follow this path all the way to the
edge to find a CHRONICLE.

The SCROLL is lying on the ground next to a pile of javelines. This is all on
the same objective as the last collectibles you gathered. When you are
given the objective to rescue your fellow soldiers, you will reach an area
full of small fires. Check the corner of this cave to find a CHRONICLE tucked
away.

When you are set to rescue your fellow soldiers again, once again hug the
right side of the path to find the SCROLL. As you’ve obviously seen, a lot of
the collectibles are JUST off the beaten path, usually to the right, sometimes
to the left. If you are having troubles finding any of the collectibles (even
with the aid of my impeccable written directions), then this combined with
simply looking for the green highlights should make it so that you are able to
find them all without suffering too much of a headache.

The next objective you’ll need to watch for is leading your formation through
the ravine. You can use the blue flag here to issue your orders to your
soldiers, but don’t do that just yet. Instead, take a right from the flag to
move through a narrow passageway between the cliffs. There will be some
water here. Follow the water for a CHRONICLE.

Return to the center area with the fire. Then go down the opposite way that
you just did. You’ll move through a wooden gate. There will be a tree to the
left, just off the path. Grab the SCROLL there from the ground.

As you continue the game and reach the objective for rescuing the Romans from
being burned alive, run past the large fire. There is some water in a bog like
area. Take a left after walking into the water to get the CHRONICLE. In this
same area, you’ll find a body lying on some logs. Investigate it to find the
SCROLL.

Chapter VI: Pax Romana

At the start of the level in the courtyard, you’ll find a small pen with a
SCROLL. Grab it, then start going down the path that you are supposed to in
order to continue the level. You’ll find a bunch of barrels on fire. Right
next to the barrels is the VISTA.

Continue moving down the street. There will be an open door with a small shop
of sorts. The CHRONICLE is in the corner of this shop. When you get to the
objective to take out barbarian archers, you’ll be in a wooden platform before
having to hop down into a courtyard-like area. Facing the courtyard, take a
left. You’ll then see a corpse where you can get another SCROLL as it is
lying in a bunch of boxes and barrels.

After moving through the large burning building, hop out. Go through the
door that is on the ground level. Take a left and you’ll find a CHRONICLE.
Go outside and go as far left as you can go. There will be a barricade. There
is an open door to the right. Go through the door and you’ll find another
CHRONICLE.

When you’re tasked with leading your formation across the canal. Instead of
doing this, turn around, take a left, find the CHRONICLE on the platform.
Then when you are trying to find a way to the courthouse, notice that there
is a ladder nearby. Climb it, go across the platforms, then across a bridge,
and you’ll find a corpse with a SCROLL right near the water.

On the next set of platforms, there is another CHRONICLE to grab. Upon
picking this up, turn around, drop down, and then take a left up the wooden
ramp there. Go up the next wooden ramp, take a right to find some laundry and
blue drapes over wooden platforms. There’s a CHRONICLE there, so get that as
well.

Continue up the platform farther. Next to an old stone firepit is a VISTA. When
tasked with following Vitallion, go with him outside to the roof. Hang a left
and behind a partially open wooden box you’ll find a CHRONICLE.

Chapter VII: THE WRATH OF NEMESIS

In the first area of the level, take a left and you’ll see a man mourning
over a fallen soldier. That fallen soldier also has a SCROLL. A little deeper
into the level, the path you’re supposed to go is UP a platform. Instead, go
right and drop down off the platform there. You’ll then find a CHRONICLE
sitting there.

Later, when you reach the courtyard with the tall trees, jump over the potted
plants near the balcony edge. There’s a hidden CHRONICLE here. Then there is a
corpse by the gate you need to move through that has a SCROLL. Kick the gate
open, hang a right, and in the grass is a CHRONICLE.

Another SCROLL can be found amongst a pile of dead bodies that is just off the
path that you need to go to continue the story. Continue going down that
path to find a VISTA leaning against a rock.

When you reach concrete again, there is a SCROLL near a broken tent. The next
time you will have a chance to get a collectible is a VISTA at the little
arena where you have to prove yourself. Hug the wall as the floor descends and
grab the VISTA quickly before the next cut-scene triggers. If the cut-scene
triggers, then you lose your chance to get that VISTA in this level.

Later on, when you are in the area where the gladiatos are waiting to go out,
you can find a VISTA lying on the ground. This large room also has a CHRONICLE
next to some cages. When you actually get to the gladiator arena, go to the
raised structure on the left to find a VISTA.

In the water, there is a SCROLL on a body that is submerged next to a large
rock. Get out of the water and take a right. Hop over the stones and on the
other side of the splintered wooden boxes, you’ll find another CHRONICLE.
There is yet another CHRONICLE here as well once the arena turns into a forest
style arena.

Chapter VIII: SON OF ROME

Walk up the steps in the first area. Take a left, hop over the barricade, and
grab the CHRONICLE over by the broken vase. You’ll then find a gate that is
locked on your right as you continue through the story. Break the gate open,
and then go down the steps to find the SCROLL.

When you reach the objective “lead your men through the forum”, walk down the
short ramp. Hop over the broken pillars, and then there will be a SCROLL in
very plain sight just lying on the ground. Grab it, turn around, and hop over
the broken pillar again.

Run to the other side of the area and turn right. There is a fence that you
can break with your sword. Break the fence, then grab the CHRONICLE on the
other side. Turn around and go the opposite way, up the stairs. Take a left,
hop over the pillar, climb the ladder, and get the VISTA.

Run back out into the large courtyard area. There is a barricade that you can
crouch and move underneath. A CHRONICLE can be found here as well. That will
do it for the collectibles in this area. At this point, you should only have
two Chronicles left to collect, two scrolls left to collect, and then one
Vista left to snag as well.

In the “Head to the Riverside” objective, run forward and head to the left
of the pool. There is a red tapestry that is blocking a secret passage. Move
through the tapestry and you’ll be led directly to one of the last CHRONICLES.

Then move through the hall with all the rubble. Check the left side for
another SCROLL. When you reach the bridge area, there is a broken piece of
bridge. Hop over the junk that is separating you from this piece of bridge and
get the VISTA there. From that point, continue along the main story path and
you will find the last CHRONICLE.

The final chronicle is found easily enough. There is a large road with fire
to your left when you step out onto it. Instead of going to the fire, go to the
right. Kick open the gate here. Then continue and you will find a fence to
break. Break through the fence with your sword. On the other side of the fence
will be the final CHRONICLE.

When you have the Kill Boudica objective, instead go the opposite way you are
supposed to. It is here that you will find the final SCROLL in the game.

Congratulations! You’ve just found all of the collectibles in Ryse: Son of
Rome. This will get you numerous achievements and will help you get 100% in the
game, so congratulations!
