Astro Boy Flight Walkthrough [Guide]

Japan is under attack by evil robot monsters, and it’s up to Astro Boy to once again save the day. Astro Boy Flight features the world famous Japanese icon – plus a few of his friends – as he shoots down enemy after enemy for as long and as far as he can, using his vast arsenal as well as a few abilities that he will be able to pick up along the way. The more he takes flight, the stronger he can get, and it’s only right as only he can do what needs to be done in order to save the city. Here’s our guide for Astro Boy Flight so that you, too, can be a superhero in your own right.

Gameplay
Astro Boy Flight is an endless flying and shooting game where in the goal is to survive for as long as possible while controlling Astro Boy or any of the characters that may be unlocked. There are monsters that will come by you as well as missiles that will try to shoot you down. Coins and other items may be collected, and these can be used for upgrades such as weapon improvements as well as powerup and ability upgrades. There are also assist bots that can be purchased that will help you out while in flight.

Currency
Coins and gems are the game’s main currencies. Coins are considered as basic currency as it can be acquired quite commonly within the game. Coins are dropped by enemies that have been destroyed, although sometimes they also come in the form of gems which have a higher value. Coins are used for purchasing upgrades and powerups in the shop, as well as for unlocking and reactivating bots.

On the other hand, gems are the game’s premium currency, and the only way to earn this is by exchanging real money for them. Gems are used for functions such as replenishing energy, getting additional coins, and unlocking new characters that you can then play as. Purchasing gems is not mandatory so that means that you can go through the game without getting this resource.

Energy
Astro Boy Flight uses an energy system that controls for how long you are able to play. Each run uses up one energy, and energy replenishes at a rate of one every ten minutes. For those who do not want to wait, instant energy refills are available but at the cost of spending premium currency.

Weapons
Your main weapon is your gun arm, and it fires constantly while you are in flight. Upgrades to your weapon will make it stronger and wider in range, while certain abilities will also give you a double shot for a limited amount of time. Make sure to make weapon upgrades your first priority as robots become tougher and would take more shots to destroy at latter parts of the game especially if you still have an inferior weapon equipped.

Powerups
Powerups are special items that you can purchase and activate either at certain stages of the game. These powerups would have to be purchased using coins and are consumable. Examples of powerups are boosts which would give you a head start at the beginning of each round. There are also powerups which would give you maxed out weapons or slowed down perception for a limited amount of time. While all of these are optional, do not buy the Tag Team powerup unless you have already purchased or unlocked an additional character as this particular powerup would be useless otherwise.

Abilities
Abilities come in the form of drops that will come from defeated enemies, and players need simply to collect them in order for it to be activated. Abilities come in many forms, such as the magnet ability which would automatically attract all coins and gems nearby. There are also rocket boosts that will make you fly quickly and be invulnerable for a certain distance, double score which would help increase your total points, and many more. Abilities will only last for a certain period of time, but its duration can be increased by purchasing the appropriate powerups.

Assist Bots
Assist bots are special robots that will fly by your side. Up to two assist bots may be used at a time, but only one slot is available initially, with the next one unlocked only by spending coins. Different types of assist bots will have different functions, such as helping you get gems, giving you added protection, increasing your score, or giving you additional offensive abilities.

Assist bots also come in different classes, with each class having better functions than the one below it. However, players will have to purchase them in succession before the highest class of assist bot can be acquired. It is also worth noting that assist bots can only be used once, after which they must be deactivated for varying amounts of time. This period can be shortened by spending coins, however. Assist bots that you no longer want may be sold off for additional coins.

Characters
There are different characters aside from Astro Boy that are available within the game. All characters share similar stats and abilities, although their sizes differ. This is important especially since smaller characters are much harder to hit. Additional characters may be purchased using gems, and although players might think of this as a waste of money, this provides players the luxury of being able to use the Tag Team powerup, which allows them to switch to an alternative character once the original one has fallen.

Enemies
Players will be able to encounter different types of enemies within the game. Hitting robots or any of their projectiles might cause a game over, and there are also missiles that will be fired from off screen that players must avoid. These latter dangers are signified by exclamation marks in spots where they will be coming from.

Enemies also have varying degrees of durability. A good strategy is to strafe from left to right or vice versa in order to damage all enemies. From their health meters, you can see how much damage you’ve dealt and you can then decide on whether to try and destroy them all, or just destroy one or two and use that gap to be able to pass through safely.

Every so often, bosses will also appear. Each boss has different patterns of attack, and knowing how they behave in battle is critical in order to survive. Memorize their attack and movement behavior and blast away at them whenever there are openings. Be patient and don’t rush head on so that you will be sure to be able to take them down. After a boss has been defeated, swoop in so that you can collect whatever coins that they would drop.

Social Function
Astro Boy Flight also has a social function where in players can connect the game to Facebook so that they can view their friends’ scores as well as challenge them to beat their own personal bests. There’s also a leaderboard where in players would be able to see the top scorers on a periodic basis. These features, however, will only be available if the game is able to connect online.
