Polar bears are an endangered species, but them rolling on top of boulders as it falls along the mountainside isn’t really helping their chances of seeing another generation. They’re pretty agile for their sizes however, but with the dangers coming faster and faster, their chances of survival are pretty slim. What you can do, though, is to make sure that they last for as long as they can – maybe just until we get to snap a picture of them. Here’s our guide to Roller Polar where we can get to see polar bears do some wild and crazy stunts
Gameplay
Roller Polar is an endless running game where in the goal is to have your polar bear survive for as long as it can on top of a rolling boulder that will inevitably collect debris on its surface. It is this debris that will then serve as obstacles that your bear must jump over or otherwise avoid. Aside from items such as rocks and trees that will stick to your boulder, there are also animals such as birds that you must avoid hitting. Making just one mistake will end your run, and scores are based on the number of items that you have avoided getting hit by.
Tips and Tricks
Obstacles are generally avoided by jumping, and it is up to you to determine as to whether single or double jumps are appropriate for the situation. Single jumps are used for short objects such as boulders, while double jumps, which is done by tapping again while your bear is in mid-air is done for taller items such as trees. Two short items with no gaps between them will also require the use of double jumps as even landing on top of obstacles will result in a game over.
Aside from things that will be sticking to your boulder, there will also be birds to contend with. Some birds will be flying level with you, which means that you will have to jump over them in order to avoid getting knocked off. In other instances, birds will be flying a little bit above you which makes jumping a little bit tricky. With this, make sure that you do not focus only on the next obstacles that will come up after you, but also with what’s coming from the left side of the screen.
Of course, practice makes perfect in this particular game. It will take some time for you to get used to the timing within the game, especially when the speed of the boulder and the frequency by which obstacles appear would increase. Find the pace in the game and don’t get frustrated if you fall early the first few dozen times or so. Use these experiences to improve your strategy and timing, and eventually you will be able to get the hang of it.
Another important trip is to know what is going to appear next, and knowing by heart what type of jump you will need to do. Sometimes, a simple jump about a second before it comes along is enough, but different obstacles will require you to jump later or sooner, and of course you will have to make sure whether you will need to do a single or double jump. Once you have cleared the first item, however, let it pass and look towards the next obstacles that will be appearing.
Lastly, make sure that your fingers are not blocking your view. The best place to place your fingers is on the right of the screen as it will not block any items that will show up. Your left hand should not obscure the screen and should only serve as support for your device. This way, you will have a much clearer view of the next items that will appear and you will have much more ample time to react.
