Tips and Tricks for Journey (PS3)
I’ve been gaming for over 25 years and in just a few short hours a simple 2-hour adventure leapt straight into my top five favourite games of all time. Journey is out today, a downloadable PS3 game from thatgamecompany. It’s lovely and haunting but yes, it can also be frustrating for the completionists among you. Here are some tips to help you find everything and unlock those PS3 trophies.
I’ve refrained from doing a literal “How To” or walkthrough because that would spoil the fun. Still, there will definitely be spoilers in here. Only read on if you really want to.
- The game only saves at the end of each area. Quitting halfway through a land will set you back to the start. I learned this the hard way.
- When trying to cross an unfinished bridge, it’s easiest to leave the first part incomplete. Bounce off the top of a nearby ribbon if you need a boost.
- Explore the edges of the pink-hued desert. The carpets will lead you to some, but not all of the riches to be found.
- You might have noticed that your robe is much simpler than those pictured in this post. They’ve journeyed more than once. A lot more.
- How do you get a white robe? Find all the glowing symbols and then play around in the chapter select area.
- Where are all the glowing symbols? Only three of them could be considered tricky. For the first, take the middle path during the slalom. For the second, spin your way to the topmost “jellyfish”. For the third, check the walls for cracks and look behind the tapestries when the tower fills up. You might also find one of your ancestors here
- Where are all the hidden glyphs? Again, most of these can be found if you just wander off the beaten path. The two you’re most likely to miss are on a forward facing wall at the entrance to a dangerous chamber and above an oasis of warmth in a very cold place.
Happy hunting. Let us know how you get on.
