The new update that Microsoft has released for Xbox One is called May update. According to Microsoft, the new May Update comes with some new features that many players have requested.
It seems that one of the new features on Xbox One will allow you to power up your console easier and you will also be able to connect with your friends in real time using the Voice Messaging feature.
Here are the features that May Update patch is bringing to Xbox One
Voice Messages
The Xbox One users are now able to receive and send voice messages via the messaging application that their consoles now have. The Xbox One owners requested this feature for quite a while and it seems that the developers finally understood that they need to bring up this new feature. To access this feature, you will need to head to the “Friends and Parties” area and select “Add audio message”. The Xbox One users can send and receive messages from Xbox 360 users also.
Power On/Off your Xbox One via SmartGlass
This new update will surely be enjoyed by a lot of Xbox One users. By using the SmartGlass application that is available for Android, iOS, Windows Phone and Windows PC, the users will be able to control the power button of the Xbox One console (as long as they are connected to the same home network console).
Selecting the desired Power Mode
Xbox One users can now select their preferred power mode. For example, the instant-on power mode will allow users to use the “Xbox On” voice command. While in this power mode, the console will be able to get background updates for the console, applications and games.
While using the energy-saving power mode, the users will not be able to use the “Xbox On” voice command and they will have to hit the Start button to start the console.
Dedicated Servers for Party Chat
Back in March 2015, the Xbox One developers released the party chat feature. The dedicated servers feature will kick in when the console detects some party chat issues. So, what happens is if the other person has problems connecting to the party chat with you, a dedicated server will be created and it will fix the connecting problem.
For now, this feature will be released for some selected users as it still needs some fine tuning to be made. However, as soon as all things are fixed on this feature, it will be made available for all Xbox One users.
