Uncharted 4 Makes Every Hair and Grass Strand React to the Wind

At first look, this might sound like overkill but developers Naughty Dog in a recent technical meet confirmed that they have given utmost attention even to the minute details in Uncharted 4 – A Thief’s End.

Making everything move in a game according to the way the character is moving and the wind response is a near impossible task. But, with the help of modern day tools, some exceptionally trained artists and the hardware power rendered by the Playstation 4 console, Naughty Dog was able to make their dreams come into reality.

“While we did have to consider hardware specifications when making games for the Playstation 3 console, things have changed. With Uncharted 4 on PS4, all we had to do is think of some creative ideas and it could then be implemented without being restrained by hardware,” said the Naughty Dog head.

Even Drake’s Chest Hair Move

The team took the time to explain how they have made everything possible in Uncharted 4. Detailed videos from the event are now available on YouTube. Some of them have been included in here for you to view and understand how they have made the game as futuristic as it should be. When going through these videos, one would easily understand the time delay in releasing it to the general public. After all, Naughty Dog wants everything to be perfect and are doing their best to make even sure Nathan Drake’s chest hair move, according to the direction of the wind.

Real Life Physics

In the E3 2015 demo, Uncharted 4 – A Thief’s End made the audience go awe with surprise when Nathan Drake took cover against a table. Not only the table but every content on top of it started reacting to the bullets. When there were too many fired on them, they were ripped into pieces. The rice sack was one good example, but the developers added that it is not only integrated with real life physics but also has a simulation, as they inflate when hit.

Things like wooden supports, buildings and the even clothes line was built from the scratch. Drake interacted with almost every one of them, and they responded to his moves as well as the enemy. The video will give you a brief overview of what to expect in the game when it gets launched on 2016. Being a PS4 exclusive title, it wouldn’t be surprising if many of them buy the console for this one game.
