Roadmap
Stage 1: Let's TOUR Delete
The best place to start XONiC is likely the World Tour mode. After selecting your difficulty from options menu (see the companion guide here for differences between the settings), open World Tour to be prompted by the tutorial. You can choose whether or not to play it, although it makes no difference (you'll be forced to replay it later for a trophy).
Start by playing through all the World Tour missions that you can. Make sure to set the speed to about x3.5, and upon unlocking DJ Icons, check the BACKSTAGE area infrequently in order to equip them. Aim for icons that give high EXP bonuses, or, if you're struggling with missions that have BREAK requirements, high Shield values. You may have to replay World Tour missions in order to level up enough to unlock the next set, so feel free to experiment with Stage Mode if you get bored.

Stage 2: Let's PRACTICE Delete
Eventually, World Tour is going to get difficult. Very difficult. At this point, it's recommended that you switch to stage mode, and working towards the
ALL ROUND PLAYER trophy. It's specifically recommended that you unlock the 6TRAX charts of songs Voodoo Gooroo, MATADOR, March of Fear, STARGAZER, and Dimension Detonator for Free Style play, as they're featured in one of the game's most challenging missions, and require practicing in order to pass. Similarly, unlock the 6TRAX FX charts of Heavy Day~Guilty Gear Xrd, Voodoo Gooroo, Dimension Detonator, STARGAZER, and Souls of Vampire~Extended for two other missions.
World Tour Area 13, the KAMASUTRA club, has the mission 6 Eleven. For this mission, you'll have to clear the five aforementioned 6TRAX charts in a row, with an overall accuracy rating of 95%. Thus, you'll want to practice each song individually in Free Style mode, until you can consistently achieve a 94-96% accuracy on them. Thankfully, despite the game's description of it, restarting a mission in World Tour only restarts from the song you're currently on. When attempting 6 Eleven, use this to restart bad runs of songs until you're satisfied with how they went.
On my successful run of 6 Eleven, I scored 71,850 in stage 1, 142,050 in stage 2, 199,150 in stage 3, 266,050 in stage 4, and 340,200 in stage 5. This was a little high (a repeat run passed at 338,000).

Stage 3: Let's SECRET TOUR Delete
After completing all 42 standard missions in World Tour mode, an additional 15th area will unlock: SUPER XONiC. Home to the hardest missions in the game, SUPER XONiC's EASY mission is the reason I recommended unlocking those 6TRAX FX charts in Stage 2. You'll want to practice those charts until you can consistently score 90% or higher on them in Free Style mode.
The EASY mission of SUPER XONiC also includes an EXTRA chart of Bang Bang Groove. This chart's interesting in that it's entirely consistent of parallel notes (i.e. every note on the left is mirrored on the right). The mission itself requires that you earn an overall accuracy of 90% or higher across all 5 songs. While difficult, this mission is arguably easier than 6 Eleven.
The NORMAL mission of SUPER XONiC is made up of 3 EXTRA charts, requiring a 95%+ accuracy. The first chart, Nodding Hawk, has no regular notes - only FX and analog ones. Nodding Hawk is the easiest chart of this mission - I scored 58,350 on my successful run of it. Aztec Groove's chart is harder, and I scored 129,800 total on it. The final chart, 5.1.5.0., is easily the hardest of the lot. On my successful run, I scored a total of 213,850 for it. This mission is aptly titled XONiC Master, as it's likely the hardest in the game.
The HARD mission of SUPER XONiC features Souls of Vampire~Extended 6TRAX FX with the GHOST effector, and an accuracy requirement of 95%. This is a very difficult mission, and you'll want to practice the song in Free Style beforehand. Consider playing Souls of Vampire~Extended's 6TRAX chart as well as the two separate 6TRAX FX charts of the song to get a better knowledge of its chart.

Stage 4: Let's CLEAN UP Delete
Now that World Tour is complete, and the hardest trophies of the game have been unlocked, it's time to clean up the trophies you've missed.
- Earn the Master/Superior/Expert DJ trophies by completing Stage Mode for each button setting with an average accuracy of 98% or higher (S++).
- Using a DJ Icon with a high Shield value, play high-combo songs in Free Style until your combo hits 99999. Peach Fuzz 6TRAX is suggested. For other potential songs, check out the song/combo table in my companion guide.
- Complete any song with your HP below 10%, but without failing the song.
- If you haven't already, set the difficulty to HARD and try any song or mission.
- If you haven't already, fail any song or mission three times in a row.
- Play any songs in Stage Mode that are lacking a high-score until you've completed all charts.
- If you're still not Level 99, equip the +500% EXP item, awarded for clearing the final mission in World Tour.
- Play songs at your own leisure until you've amassed a total playcount of 1000.

Beginner's Tips & Strategies
Here are some gameplay tips for those new to SUPERBEAT: XONiC, or otherwise unfamiliar with rhythm games.
Speed
XONiC lets you choose your scroll speed. Values are 0.5-5.0, in increments of 0.5.
It's strongly recommended that you play at x3.5 speed, and become very familiar with it. x3.0 is also fine, but might make a few of the later World Tour missions harder, and x4.0 is also fine, but a bit too fast for first-time song reads in my opinion. Thing is, like with DJMax, a somewhat high scroll speed is helpful - by spacing the notes out further, it's easier to see the rhythm of the song, easier to break the song down into digestible chunks, easier to recognize familiar patterns, and helps avoid notes cluttering, which can overwhelm your brain in quick songs.
That said, putting the speed to x0.5 is fine for the Fade In missions in World Tour (not Fade Out; those are easier with high speeds), and the Flicker 1 mission with H.O.W.ling in KAMASUTRA had me lowering the speed to x2.5.
In short, play on x3.0 or x3.5.
Controls
There's been a range of opinions with players and reviewers regarding whether or not XONiC is easier with touch controls. Here's my take: touch controls can ease players who aren't familiar with the DJMax-style button mapping into the game, and it makes the swipe/drag notes seem less confusing at first, but touch controls also have a much lower skill ceiling.
You almost certainly will not be able to complete the later World Tour missions with touch controls. Similarly, they make the EXTRA charts and harder 6TRAX/6TRAX FX charts almost impossible to score well on. Button controls, on the other hand, allow for rapid movement between lanes, and quick switching between buttons and analog sticks. Play the game with buttons enough, and you'll learn how to move your thumbs such that rather than individually moving the analog sticks with your tips, you can move them with the sides of your thumb instead; this method is very important in some of the later missions/charts. In short, use buttons.
Key Sounds
XONiC lets you choose between a variety of different sound effects to play when hitting a note. You can also change the loudness of these sounds in the settings menu, or mute them completely. While initially, it might seem better to play without the potentially distracting key sounds and listen to the music to time your button presses, it's strongly recommended getting used to the keysounds on their standard volume before challenging the later World Tour clubs. Keysounds are an excellent way of avoiding hitting notes too early or late, or 'desyncing' from the song's rhythm. When it comes to the 95% accuracy missions, keysounds help maintain consistent rhythm across rapid note streams (a major factor in doing well enough to pass). In short, the default key sound is recommended.
Other Notes
- Hold notes do not count more for judgement than regular notes (equivalent to one note; similar to how Clazziquai Edition scored judgement)
- Hold notes also do not penalize you for holding them too long, unlike in DJMax
- Charts must be manually unlocked in Free Style by clearing them in Stage Mode (like DJMax Portable 2/3 and Technika Tune). While charts may have a high score already present (high scores in World Tour songs carry over to their Stage Mode/Free Style equivalents), they may not necessarily be available in Free Style yet
- The songs in the 6 Eleven mission are difficult, but also very good practice songs for the various techniques you need to know in XONiC; for instance, Voodoo Gooroo focuses on chord patterns, March of Fear has unusual analog-to-button patterns, Dimension Detonator has lots of double tap notes, STARGAZER has plenty of note streams, and MATADOR has chord-note alternations. Chances are, if you can get to consistently being able to clear this mission, you'll be able to platinum XONiC

Grind
This trophy unlocks after reaching DJ Level 99.
Grinding levels in XONiC is a significantly easier affair than any of the level grinding featured in the DJMax Portable games, or even Technika Tune. Leveling starts to slow down a bit at 60, drops again into the 80s, and the final move from 98 to 99 takes about 3-4 times as long as the other Level 90s do.
This trophy should occur naturally as you play, and should definitely occur before unlocking the 1000 playcount trophy, but if you wish to speed it up, take note:
- HARD mode increases your EXP by about ~40%
- Equipment further adds to your score; it's recommended that you use SUNNY as your DJ Icon (unlocked in World Tour) if you play on HARD, as it grants 20 anti-breaks and a 160% EXP gain, or any of the World Tour-unlocked 190/200% icons (FLORENCE and ATLAS specifically), if playing on EASY or NORMAL.

This is the most time-consuming trophy in the game, and likely the last you'll earn. This trophy unlocks after clearing 1000 songs. You can keep track of your progress towards this in the BACKSTAGE menu (the number is displayed below Play Record). Note that individual World Tour songs add to this total, and that failing a song will not.
If you've completed the last mission in World Tour (Aftermath, Area 15), you'll unlock RACHEL BB, an item that increases your HP by 500%. There's an easy way to rack-up your playcount with RACHEL BB: equip her, set the difficulty to EASY, and play the 4TRAX versions of Morning Calm or Love is Real over and over again in Free Style. You don't have to press any buttons - your HP will survive missing every note. This means you don't have to actively play to earn this trophy. Both songs are 1:45, so they're largely interchangeable.

Unlike in Technika Tune, this trophy does not require you to play any of the EXTRA charts, present in the later World Tour clubs. You will need to pass, for each of the 59 songs in the game, their 4T, 6T, and 6TFX charts. As performance doesn't matter, feel free to play on EASY, and/or use HP/Recovery boosting items to keep you alive during the harder charts. To check whether or not a chart has been previously cleared, hover over it in Stage Mode (not Freestyle). If the bottom-right yellow box has a score/grade in it, the song has been played and cleared.
Songs played in World Tour missions count towards this trophy; their scores are also saved to Stage Mode. You should also be able to check your progress towards this trophy in the BACKSTAGE menu's Play Record, but as the time of writing, the menu is glitched and crashes on opening (a patch is coming to fix this, and is already available for the Korean version).
There have been accounts of people failing to unlock songs properly at certain level-up points. It seems this issue does not affect the US version of the game, only the European one. Until the European version's 1.01/2 patch is released, I recommend to be careful of this:
- Frequently back-up your save file to PC/cloud storage
- Upon nearing a level-up for a song unlock, turn off auto-save, then turn it back on
after confirming the song has been unlocked

PERFECT SOUND as the hardest trophy in the game to obtain. For this trophy, you will need to unlock all 127 different DJ icons in XONiC. Most of these icons are unlocked automatically as you level up, but many are also rewarded for clearing each of the different World Tour missions.
The hardest icons to unlock are RAGNA BB and RACHEL BB - both are awarded in the SUPER XONiC secret club (its EASY and HARD missions), which has extremely difficult missions to clear.
You will need to complete all 42 default World Tour missions in order to unlock SUPER XONiC - the hardest of these being KAMASUTRA's 6 Eleven mission.

Grind
For this trophy, you will need to obtain a 99999 combo in Free Style mode. Unlike in Technika Tune, where restarting a song, or returning to the Song Selection mid-song would reset your combo, XONiC works similarly to DJMax Trilogy, and you can restart a song, or return to the menu and select a different one with no penalty. The only way to reset your combo is to BREAK during a song, and let the song finish.
The best song to grind on, in my opinion, is the
6TRAX version of
Peach Fuzz, which has a max combo of ~1319 and a difficulty of 6. It's recommended that you either play with the Shield 60 item (QYRIE, unlocked in World Tour), or the highest shield item you can find. If you have SUNNY, feel free to combine this grind with the level grind to 99, as SUNNY has both a Shield 20 effect, and a +160% EXP effect.
For other potential charts, see the table of songs by combo/difficulty here.

Morning Calm 4TRAX, on NORMAL difficulty, and using the highest HP+ item you have available. This trophy is also doable on EASY, but you recover HP so quickly that you may accidentally end up with more than 10%. Play the song, intentionally missing enough notes towards the end to lower your HP as much as possible without running out.
It's also pretty easy to earn this trophy on HARD with no icon equipped - play perfectly to near the end of an easy song, then miss one note, hit the next, and miss one again (if there are any more notes, keep hitting them; it'll take at least 9 more notes to recover above 10%).
