Social Media making a game go wow!

Who would have thought in the gaming environment of the day that “casual gaming,” would ever take off?
The probably only answer is Mark Pincus head of Zynga he had a vision that was gaming on Facebook which extended extensively to mobile platforms.
Farmville, City Ville, Zynga Poker, Mafia Wars all went viral strongly, and when PlayFish sold for $250,000,000 to EA games Zynga was valued at $1,000,000,000 in the November of 2009.
What a result for a simple game, but also what a result for social media!
Search is now loosing traction against social and Google is planning to combat the change with Google.me so that both platforms are supported by the company.
With talks of Facebook going TV and enabling us to like and share comments on programmes directly on TV does this mean casual simple gaming will die?
I personally don’t think so, Angry Birds among others are number one hits, and those of us over 25 still have an interest in retro, while our younger counterparts may see that as history, they no doubt would enjoy a game of Mario back in the days of the SNES, Or golden Axe on the megadrive, who knows maybe even Franky on the Spectrum ZX?
With new comers on the Block Buccaneers & Lobsters now making its presence felt in the children’s market for 7-11 year olds will other game developers start to change tactics? Is Facebook now an essential part of the gaming experience even for children?
