Indian Games market Poised for Higher Achievements

Speak of mobile app market in India and it is booming like never before. A growing number of technology investors are showing keenness in Indian gaming industry from investment viewpoint.  The phenomenon is rather recent and should appear in its full bloom only after a gestation period of a few years. However, the trend has certainly arrived and is here to stay.

More astonishing than anything else is that foreign investors are investing in Indian gaming industry and not merely outsourcing game testing in India. The investors from across the world are seeing India as a potential market, ripe for monetizing games and make money. What is more encouraging for the investors is the raw nature of Indian gaming market - lacking in competition and high expectations out of games.

A decade from now, India was seen merely as an outsourcing destination, where they could get cheap but competent game QA testing services. The abundant skilled manpower and resources at economical rates have been rendering India as a fertile location for testing of offshore interactive entertainment applications for errors, bugs and performance issues. However, of late, the scene is fast changing with Indian consumers rapidly shifting from basic handsets to android based mobile phone devices. As such, the market of interactive applications is fast looking up and broadening into a lucrative market.

What has captured the fancy of the capitalists abroad is the local games generating stupendous response in the market. According to statistics, the top three grossing games in India include local India Poker game, i.e. Octro's Teen Patti at third position, only preceded by the international Clash of Clans and Candy Crush Saga. Teen Patti being a digital version of a regional Indian poker has been developed by a local game development studio and shows a lot of scope for improvement. However, the consistent revenue being generated by the game alone has driven a global company like Sequoia Capital to invest to the tunes of 15 million dollars in Octro – till now an obscure local studio responsible for development of the game.

The global players are also encouraged to invest in the game industries citing the consumer behavior in India. The Indian consumers are not very finicky about the quality of graphic user interface across interactive applications. They are ready to compromise with visual quality as long as they are having fun. Moreover, the entertainment applications developed locally have generally been found to be weak and crash frequently. Yet, an average Indian consumer continues to play these games for a time pass and quite avidly at that. The facts imply that an average Indian consumer is willing to try and does not reject products out rightly on the basis of certain shortcomings.

The global investors interested in Indian gaming markets understand that if they could provide these games with better visual quality and much better robustness, they can exploit the industry even better in the time to come. Not to mention, the local game compatibility testing services in India extend smooth and seamless development of error-free games for Indian as well as international game markets at low cost.
