A totally new class of items is being added to Diablo III in an upcoming patch. This item class is superior to Legendary items. It's called Ancient Items. This concept is quite confusing especially for new players as there isn't supposed to be any new beam to make it easier for players to recognize it's a totally new item class. It's only clear from the name.
What are Ancient Items and what do we know about them so far?
Ancient Items are rare drops of existing Legendaries, which will provide significant updates to their existing Legendary counterparts.
Only certain affixes will get bigger numbers, certain affixes remain unchanged such as +Skill Damage, +Elemental Damage, +Critical Hit Chance or +Crit Damage. Primary stats and secondary Affixes will see significat boosts. People already complain how difficult it is to find and/or gamble a Furnace and these Ancient Items will cut those odds down by at least 90%.
Source
Ancient Items can drop off any source: drops, Horadric Caches, gambling, crafting. They will be found on Torment difficulty only, starting with a 1.5% chance from a legendary to come up as an Ancient Item on Torment I up to 10% on Torment VI. It is yet unknown how difficulty affects gambling and crafting.
Players won't know an item is Ancient until they identify them. The developers should come with some sort of notification for these items as most of us just see a Leg they already own and simply mass-disenchant it.
Screenshots of some Ancient Items can be viewed below
On the left side, you can see a normal Legendary drop, while on the right side, there's its ancient version. Note the stat changes.
Diablo 3 fans may not have as much excitement from BlizzCon this year as Hearthstone fans or StarCraft 2 fans, but there are a few changes coming as Blizzard continues to refine the Diablo experience to maximize fun and minimize the frustrating grind that characterized the game at launch. Though this year's panels spent the majority of their time talking about the development process that brought Diablo 3 to the place it is now, there were some hints at the future, new monsters, new items, and an early demo of a new area, the Ruins of Sescheron (which you may remember from its brief appearance in Diablo 2: Lord of Destruction).
As to a new Diablo expansion, the devs refused to give a yes or no answer, but we live can live in hope, right? In the meanwhile, check out our galleries for a look at what's coming, or keep reading for a rundown of upcoming changes.
Who would have thought that a game like Goat Simulator would end up being successful enough, that it has been warranted to deserve its very own MMO? Well, for those who have had their fair share of fun with the latest Goat Simulator MMO, you might have missed out on this particular tribute - an Easter Egg that pays homage to the famous Cow Level found in Diablo 2.
This particular Easter Egg will require the gamer to make use of a catapult in order to fling himself into "Twistram."
Diablo fans will no doubt be familiar with that play on the village in the Diablo series, where Twistram will feature gloomy lighting and accompanying music which will roll back the years. From there, you would need to make a mess out of the Cathedral so that you can uncover the subterranean passage which will send you to the "Not So Secret Cow Farm."
In there, the anthropomorphic cow herd would be enraged with the presence of a goat, where they will then target you with laser beams from their eyes. Of course, you can kill them, but the sheer number of cows there make it an impossible task to complete even if you have all eternity to do so.
