Children love playing games at a party. Creating original games can make a party memorable for all attending. By using items from your home, you can have original games that each child can participate in. Clothing can be used as elements in a fun party game. Both boys and girls can play dress up games.
Gather old clothes together. These can be from your closet or from a thrift shop. It is a good idea to have a few crazy items of clothing such as a very large pair of pants or a brightly colored sparkling dress to generate laughs. Make two large piles of clothing. Divide the party into two teams. The host of the party should guide this game. Each team should be lined up about 6 yards behind their pile of clothing. The host should yell out an article of clothing such as t-shirt. The first person in each team should run to their pile to find the article of clothing. He or she should put the clothing on and run back to their team. When they get back the next article will be yelled out for the following person to find and wear. Repeat this process with everyone on the team. The first team wearing a new piece of clothing wins.
Gather clothing from your closet, dress up box or thrift store. Give each child a card with a title; have him dress up as what’s written on the card. For instance a boy may get a card that says “princess”. He will have to go through the clothing to find an outfit that looks like a princess. The other children will guess what he is dressed up as. For older children do not give gender specific titles. It will be funny to see a boy dressed as a girl or visa versa. Younger children could get upset if they have to dress as the opposite sex. Have prizes for the child who guesses correctly.
Hang clothing around your backyard. Have a shirt, pants and accessory for each child. Divide the party into two teams. The first child from each team will run around the backyard and put on a shirt, pants and an accessory then run back to their team. The next person in line will do the same until everyone is wearing new clothes. The team that finishes first wins. Children should keep their clothes on, only putting the new clothing over the old. For older children place the clothing in harder to reach places so they have to jump or use a stick to get the clothing down.
