Salsa, a type of Latin ballroom dance, has been a mainstream trend for generations. Beyond the dance steps, salsa is also known for its sensual and sexy costumes and flamboyant colors and sparkles. Use the signature salsa steps, style and music to create Salsa dress up games to entertain guests at your Latin or dance-themed party.
Pass the Flower
Salsa dancers can often be seen wearing a rose in their hair. Purchase a flower hair clip and have all game players stand in a circle formation. Play salsa music and have the girls pass the flower to their right, before they can pass it however, they must clip it into their hair, keep it there for one second, then remove it to pass it. Stop the music randomly throughout the game. The person controlling the music should have her back to the players. The person holding or wearing the flower when the music stops is eliminated. The last girl remaining in the circle wins.
Costume Change
Dance performances often entail a great deal of quick costume changes. Ask each girl attending the party to come dressed in a leotard or a pair of leggings and a tank top, items that can easily be layered over. Provide each player with a variety of salsa costumes and dresses, at least ten each. Set a timer at three minutes and assign a judge to every three girls. During the allotted time frame, the girls must dress in as many costumes as they can. They must put on each costume, including accessories, receive a thumbs up from their assigned judge to verify they have put it on completely, then take it off and dress in the next one. The girl who has the most successful costume changes wins.
Collect the Costume
Scatter various elements of a salsa costume, such as a leotard, skirt, high heeled shoes, flowers for the hair, stockings and jewelry throughout the house or party venue. Similar to an Easter egg hunt concept, give the girls 10 minutes to collect as many costume pieces as they can and dress themselves in the costume. The girl who successfully finds and wears the most complete salsa costume wins the contest. If there is a tie, re-hide all the pieces, cut the time allowed in half and have the tied girls re-assemble a costume to determine the winner.
