What is a MMORPG?

A MMORPG is a Massive Multiplayer Online Game. In these games that you play online on the internet, you interact with thousands of people, for a common goal, socialization, in a virtual world. Here players assume the role of a fictional character and their actions in a persistent world that continues to exist and evolve even when the players are not playing the game.

With the launch of World of Warcraft, the mmorpg that has the highest players database at this point ( 10 million at the last count ), this genre of games, received a lot of publicity and many people of all ages, started to join mmorpgs for fun, socialization, adventure.

Where to start your mmorpg gaming adventure? Well, if you have a little experience with this genre, I recommend first to try a few free ones. There are tons out here, but some of them have less features, and probably a medium graphics engine, because they have low funds to sustain them. Some of them keep the free subscription, but they have shops with high-end items, or special items for players to buy if theys choose to, thus the company gets funds to sustain the servers, the game, and they get a small-medium profit from it.

At some point you will move to P2P mmorpg. P2P means Pay 2 Play; basically you pay a subscription every month, starting from 5$ up to 14.99$, depending on the quality of the game and its features. Of course most of these P2P mmorpg have a trial period, free of charge, usually between 7 to 14 days of free trial, for you to see if you like the game, and if you would like to subscribe, in most of the cases, you can continue from where the trial ended. This is highly recommended before subscribing to a new mmorpg.
