Hey Geeks and Geekettes, This is my review for Saints Row IV!
So last week we saw the release of the latest installment of the totally insane Saints Row series. Now, anyone who has played the previous games knows these games do not take themselves too seriously, well this one throws any sense of normalcy out of the window, and as a geek and a gamer I love it!!
SPOILERS – Enter at your own risk!!!
I am going to start with the intro, within the first 10 minutes of the game we have a couple of great movie references, the first of which is to Predator (The first one), the music playing in the chopper as you fly in, the second comes soon after when you climb onto a nuke, and get hit with the Aerosmith song from Armageddon. This kinda sets the tone for the whole game.
The character creator continues the insanity with options for body type, color, and yes, Sexiness (this option increases or decreases the size of the characters junk, or boobs) There is face paint hairstyles and all the other good stuff to make your character look as mental as you like.
The character you play is The Protagonist, a gang member, turned President, and finally super hero, who makes no bones about wanting things his way, until the aliens attack, and that’s where it gets really nuts!
The aliens place the protagonist in the Matrix like version of the city of Steelport, the city from the last game. Here there is a big new upgrade to the game, SUPER POWERS! I do not want to spoil too much of the game, but you start out with Super Speed, and Super Jump, turning you into a wrecking machine and it’s a blast.
As always the weapons are crazy and the vehicles are over the top, check out the ‘murica gun, and the Screaming Eagle, they are just hilarious, but my personal favorite is the DubStep gun, which just has to be seen to be believed.
Add to this the voices of Keith David, Neil Patrick Harris, and Terry Crews and the game takes on new levels of over the top.
I have had so much fun playing this game over the last week, and cannot wait to get back to playing just to see what they come up with next!
Where to buy the game
It is available at all of the usual retailers Gamestop, Steam, Walmart, and Amazon, there are a couple of different versions including the Super Dangerous Wub Wub Edition that comes with its own Dubstep Gun replica among other things.
This really is a geeky good time.
